Rafa Benítez (now unemployed)

Recommended Posts

He signed most of them so he has to take some responsibility for that.

Was Joselu his first choice? Or a last resort due to financial restrictions from Ashley?

It doesn't f***ing matter he decided to sign him, he wasn't forced at gunpoint to say yes. He sold a guy in Darryl Murphy who would have been far more effective than this plank

He was essentially forced to sign dross like Joselu and Manq due to having no other option, you monumental toss pot

I'm sure he would of loved Cenk Tosun and Luke Shaw, but guess what?

NEWSFLASH.

MIKE ASHELY OWNS US.

Youre the tosspot for thinking Mike Ashley decides who we sign.

Townsend, Abraham, Caballero, Lucas Perez, Matt Targett.

He literally does, or at least his underlings do.

Youre the tosspot for thinking Mike Ashley decides who we sign. A manager can say no you know. Do a bit of f***ing research and look at some of the absolute s**** that he signed for Liverpool too

Oh I suppose Hicks and Gillet forced him to sign that s**** too

He does decide because Rafa aint got 100mil in his back pocket to sign a prime Fernando Torres.

He gives a budget just like any other owner/chairman who runs a business and then the manager works with that budget. He does not decide who is recruited with that budget. Rafa chose to sign these useless fuckers he was not forced to what cant you understand about that

Interesting voting going on considering the posts in here.

Maybe because you can criticise him and still want him as manager?

We aren't a top half side for sure, but there's enough talent to be able to competently have a go at Brighton at home. Rafa clearly didn't fancy it, despite putting 2 strikers on it was very negative in the shape and style. We didn't get beat but the worrying thing is Rafa looked clueless how to obtain the other 2 points against a side he should.

Probably because we lost to them last time. The tactics he's using are damage control until the window opens. If he's not backed he'll walk before it shuts.

Brighton don't concede a lot of goals by the way, worth mentioning again for those who think by throwing players forward we would have won. Like I said in the other thread, better teams than us have struggled to break them down.

Didn't think we'd see the point at which people would genuinely prefer us to sign nobody at all than take desperate punts on cheap players that haven't worked out.

I wouldn't mind it but it's led to a player being frozen out and not given any chance no matter how bad the new signing is. Player peformances on the pitch just don't seem to matter at the minute. Ritchie's been off the boil for months yet he's never out for more than 1 game at a time. With Rafa now saying youngsters can't learn quickly enough. ((Assuming that means Aarons and Murphy, who both have looked bright when given minutes)) Same with Mbemba and Manquillo. Mbemba was always 1 game away from the chop but Manquillo could do no wrong. Of course this will lead people to rather have just not bothered with Manquillo or Joselu.

So why did Keegan win his case for constructive dismissal then? Ashley's a fucking crook man. Are all of our previous managers just lying about wanting their own players that we never got and Ashley is right?

Ah, the perfect mix of arrogance and ignorance. You're talking utter horseshit, you're completely fucking clueless, and clearly fairly proud of it.

*breathe*

Right... Example time

Rafa wants a 15mil striker, a 10mil LB and a 15 mil CM. 40mil is not much in todays market.

Ashley counters with a budget of 18mil. Rafa then has to buy a 5mil Joselu, a 5mil Manq, and an 8mil Merino.

If he doesn't buy them, we have no LB to cover the injured Dummett, no CF he trusts other than Gayle, and 2 CMs in Hayden and Jonjo.

See the problem? Or would you rather he bought nobody and we play Mitrovic at LB?

Mackemdean is a complete and utter mouth breathing grundle face. Incredible levels of retardation.

Another mature response from a guy who cant see the wood for the trees

Coming from the man that is doing the forum equivalent of banging his head against a brick wall. Constantly parroting utter bollocks about Ashley and the transfer budget. Spectacularly missing the point despite it getting highlighted every other post.

Either you’re a RTG mackem troll, a bit simple or just a bit of a creep.

I’m going with creep.

As has previously been stated, its Ashleys underling(s) who actually try (or try not) to do the actual deals, offer fees, wages etc. That is where Rafa's wishlist fell down.

You really think Joselu was #1 on Rafa's list?? He was a last resort, at a club prepared to accept a pretty low fee for a 'PL' striker, and a player willing to accept the (probably) very average wage being offered.

Its been stated already... Rafa had deals lined up for arguably much better players, but then Charnley et al, would not close out those deals, for whatever reason.

It's probably just the prospective takeover keeping Rafa here now. If that falls through and Ashley stays as owner, then its Adios Rafa.

For those saying why doesn't he walk if the takeover isn't going to happen?  I believe there's a certain clause meaning he has to pay ashley £2m-£3m if he does.

For all the talk, there's probably a lot of truth in this.
