Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

Recommended Posts

Those saying it’s well under his valuation etc..

That is how negotiating works. He will have had his ‘valuation’ leaked as a much higher value than he’s willing to accept. We do not know his true valuation of the club, could easily be 300million. That figure will have been discussed verbally before a formal bid of course. PCP won’t waste their time and costs with a formal bid if they knew it was way off Ashley’s actual valuation.

Obviously this is a step forward for us, fingers crossed now.

IMO, if they take over we're going to pushing for European places every season and Rafa will be able to build this club the way it should be. Esp if this is Middle East capital providing the majority behind AS's stake - they will see it as personal mission to be successful and there will be ton of ego around that cash; it's how that type of capital reacts to their investments, esp one as high profile as PL football.

Imagine a clause was to stay up and the deal would be finalised in summer

:scared:

Whilst not unthinkable, I would imagine that there would be a later staged payment contingent on us surviving this season.

In any deal of this magnitude there will be risks as to the future performance of the business taken by BOTH sides. New and old.

Like this part considering that she's well connected. We haven't earned a lot of money on stuff like this have we?

"Ms Staveley is understood to be keen to line up a string of commercial partnerships to replace those negotiated under Mr Ashley, including the association of Sports Direct's name with its St James' Park home."

Charnley will be down the road quicker than you can say 'Yes man'.

Something of an understatement. Commercial income's basically gone down since he came here.

- What we don't know yet is whether the £300m is the headline figure or the WHOLE DEAL figure. This is a major issue. If it's really £200m up front with deferred payments, future contingencies etc then it won't be anywhere near as attractive as the figure indicates.

- However, if it starts at £300m, and then goes north when taking those issues above into account, then we'll near enough certainly have a new owner by Xmas.

If it's Saudi or Middle East money that's how they react to high profile investments - it's been said by that Geordie Dentist lad on twitter and everything I've encountered in my line of work is that if it's indeed Sov. Wealth Fund money there will be so much ego behind it to be successful. Just my take man!

Good long post as well, Minhosa. Would love to know what the 300m is broken out into as well and the contingencies, timing and structure of the bid. Hopefully it's the full thing and we just get bought sooner than later!
