AyeDubbleYoo Posted Sunday at 20:43 Share Posted Sunday at 20:43 (edited) I find it a bit weird how much credit he’s now getting based on doing very little. Not that I’m against supporting our players obviously, but for me he’ll never really get the credit back from when he bailed out to Man Utd. Stifler Posted Sunday at 20:46 Share Posted Sunday at 20:46 We need to cash in if we can, sorry like but not only rejecting Gina chance to move, but offering him a new contract is baffling.

wormy Posted Sunday at 20:58 Share Posted Sunday at 20:58 Ironically the only way we cash in is if he gets a new contract for beyond this summer.

Ikon Posted Sunday at 21:00 Share Posted Sunday at 21:00 Eddie wants to give him a new contract if it was up to him. Hopefully we won’t imho.

Why is rejecting giving him the chance to move baffling? He’s under contract. We’d get nowt for him.

I'm more just talking about people thinking we're missing out on some boost to our bottom line by getting him out this month. It's become pretty apparent we're getting fuck all if he goes this month so he may stick around for the next few months. If we actually give him a new contract that extends his time here then I'll certainly raise an eyebrow.
Danh1 Posted Sunday at 21:14 Share Posted Sunday at 21:14 Another one who sees sense in keeping him until the summer but for fuck sake, don’t give him a new contract. I’d like to think we’ll be signing a new number one, you’ve then got Pope as number two and the others for third choice.
On the Grid Posted Sunday at 21:18 Share Posted Sunday at 21:18 We desperately need a new number 1. Pope just gives the defence (and me and everyone watching) the jitters when he is passed the ball. It's night and day compared to Dubs. Pope makes great saves and protects his goal but you need more than that in the modern game now, been a great servant but think his injury and the fact he looks like he is trying to control a Rugby ball means we need to move on
Holloway Posted Sunday at 21:26 Share Posted Sunday at 21:26 Agree on the need for a new number 1 keeper. You can't have a first team member panicking in any given situation if you're looking to challenge at the top end. Pope has the fucking whole ground in a state whenever there is a close call on the deck, it's ridiculous

And unfortunately Pope seems to have become a bit of a liability in the parts of his game that were strong. Conceded some soft goals this season imo. Problem is I don’t think there’s too many top keepers around nowadays.
Hanshithispantz Posted Sunday at 22:20 Share Posted Sunday at 22:20 Still baffled as to why people are desperate to get shot of him like. If we can can sign him on a contract (possibly on lower wages) then we're sorted for a backup keeper for next season.

I genuinely believe he's one of the best second keepers in the country I mean is he even our second keeper? Not sure at present.
On the Grid Posted Sunday at 23:13 Share Posted Sunday at 23:13 I want Anatoliy Trubin from Benfica, got a mate who supports them and he says he is epic and will be one of the best...
andycap Posted Sunday at 23:26 Share Posted Sunday at 23:26 On Tuesday night he was sliding about the floor like the shake n vac wife in the eighties. 😂 He was so un decisive and all his kicks were perfectly hit into the crowd. Bit off pressure put his positive part of his game into pope territory.

Crimson Cardigan Posted Sunday at 23:30 Share Posted Sunday at 23:30 It’s been widely reported he doesn’t want a new contract, he wants a payoff to stick around and turn down Saudi (for now) fair enough given his performances and the fact we have no other viable options. as others have said there is no “cash in” option and the wages are negligible
