The point is that Schars performances have regressed, quite alot...and in an Eddie Howe side, there's rarely a hiding place for a CB because of the expectations placed on them to win their duels.

He’s not playing anywhere near the standard he was in 22/23, and he is getting to that sort of age where you might expect dips in form. It’s a shame because when the team is performing he’s usually been a big part of it.

 

As I said though, I don’t think he deserves to be written off as a 3rd/4th choice yet. I feel like he could still perform well enough in a more balanced back 4.

New contract is a no brainer but I'm tipping the dialogue wheel away from Crucial to Rotation and his chump agent can say "that's what we're after."

Schar has played 41, 47 and 30 (so far) games last 3 seasons. If Wilson had that sort of availability giving him a new contract would also be a done deal.

It’s not been recent, either. It’s been what teams have been doing to him and then what he’s been doing all season. 

 

Moving the ball quickly and accurately and passing out from the back are certainly not what Burn’s good at. Not

his game at all

Point was its fair to be sceptical and not unappreciative arrogance.

Schar has been poor this season, especially the passing which has went from being class to a hindrance 

 

No issue with him being given a year extension as we won't be able to go out and buy 2-3 CB's but someone of a similar profile is needed in the summer as a priority

Need someone with more pace beside him and he would be alot better again. Be a very good third choice cb, both of our cbs badly need upgrading if we are to compete for top 4 places.

Deserves another year and can still do a good job - up there with Rob Lee as our best ever £ for £ signing!

Another one year contract before phasing him out into the club shop as a male model, and then only a matter of time before Ralph Lauren will tap him up.
