Displayname
Yeah, sorry for not thinking with my emotions. So whats your guys solution. Not bringing in a new CB or sticking with 5 first team CBs? I guess getting rid of Botman in the summer could be an alternative.
Fak
I think the Guehi ship has sailed unfortunately.
Zero
It just depends on Schars own will - if he is willing to be a reserve CB then surely he would be here for next season

Thiaw, Burn, Botman + new CB. If we sell Botman it’s two CBs.
Menace
Depends how serious the injury is. ACL at his age and its risky to renew. I think he can do another year though if it's not too bad (hopefully isn't)

Thiaw, Botman, Burn back soon, Miley can cover it, Krafth can do a job there if we get really desperate. Lascelles maybe back at some point. Reassess the position in the summer but he's not on mega wages, so I'm sorry but treat him like a human being and support him with an extension so he has time to get back. He's earned it. He's part of the family, treat him that way, not as a commodity to cut loose as soon as it becomes beneficial to the bottom line

If Botman finishes the season well that should end any thought of selling him IMO. Make him the Burn successor and look for another option alongside. Novocastrian
Hope this isn’t the end, there’s a genuine case to say he’s been the club’s best ever CB when you take everything into account (cost, goals, passing ability etc). Never let the club down.
llcoolc157
Hope Schar recovers quickly but this has presented an ideal opportunity to go out and bring in a top class centre half… Not necessarily a player for the future but an established, experienced vocal leader who commands the back 4. Someone to play alongside thiaw and really drive us forward in the 2nd half of the season… just not sure who…

Schar to play cups, carry on building his coaching, sporting director experience.
Sibierski
4 minutes ago, Zero said: It just depends on Schars own will - if he is willing to be a reserve CB then surely he would be here for next season He'll effectively be 5th choice next season (because surely we sign a CB with a succession plan in mind?), in which case it would have to be heavily reduced wages and incentivised on pay as you play. Which covers him as he recovers (if it's worse case and goes into next season), but he likely can get a 2 year deal somewhere, so he may rightly want to leave and get that final pay/experience instead of being a cheerleader if he's back by end of season. We don't have enough cover given the amount of games. Miley should play in the position that he excelles at, not one he can do a good enough job in. Botman and Krafth just can't be relied upon. When have they last played 10 games in a row? Edited January 8 by Displayname

Erikse
It's insane how CB is the position that we're currently struggling with. It was the position that needed additional depth the least out of all positions. We have 6 senior CBs. No idea how both Kraft and Lascelles got injured right before we miraculously needed them. They've barely played.. Edited January 8 by Erikse

Not a chance. City are supposedly in for him as well now, he's not picking us over them and Liverpool. Burn will be back in a few weeks, if Lascelles is close to fitness we'll probably just make do until then.
Smal
I honestly thought he'd become indestructible. Was really upset when he was down and I realised it might be the last time we'll see him play for NUFC. Legend.

Relying on him and Botman whilst in four competitions is complete dereliction of duty. Since the 30th March 2024 Lascelles has played 19 minutes of PL football. He’s barely a player at this point, more a cheerleader.

Unless there's a decent loan option maybe.
