Great turnout considering the weather, like. Felt like too much of a tit to join in with chants, but the guy with the moustache and the other bloke with the beard was making enough noise for most of us like.[emoji38]

My feelings exactly but mainly because I was with the wife, next time the windows are going through 😉

Less enthusiastic this week, partly the weather, but mostly because the socialist party diluted the Ashley out message.

We know Ashley is a cunt of an employer, but I'm turning up to protest against his ownership of NUFC!bb10ad09fadfa0a64745453a79288d65.jpg

Not loads there but the weather is shite so it's not bad at all. Like has been said, 3 hours before kick off too. Maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours would see more as more people arrive in the City.

I'll be going again if there's another. We have to keep it up.

Aye, it did seem a bit early like this time.

I thought that might be the case with it being 3 hours before kick off. As i was making my way down to the protest i noticed a lack of Newcastle fans generally, around Newcastle (in terms of what it would be like an hour or so before kick off). No doubt if it was closer to kick off, more people would be there.

Not if 50% of the speeches, via the megaphone, are about sports direct working practices.

It's match day in Newcastle and the message should be 100% about getting Cashley out of our club!

I disagree it's about making making his brand as toxic as possible by tackling the myth that he is a savy  business man. He's a bad owner because of how he runs Sports Direct as well as NUFC. NUFC in its current state serves Sports Direct as an advertising arm. The only way he goes is by creating a direct link for him that owning NUFC damages the Sports Direct brand.

To do that we need other groups who are protesting Sports Direct because of his vile business practices. Sports Direct is huge, Mike's empire is huge. To take on the brand we need more than just NUFC fans.

Mike doesn't care about NUFC, he doesn't care about you or me, he doesn't care about his workers. He only cares about Sports Direct and his bank balance that's the only way we get him to take notice. I'd imagine that's why The Magpie Group/If Rafa Goes or whoever have started going protesting SD rather than protesting in the ground.

We've turned to protesting against sports direct for a reason, so why anyone would have an issue with anything that can be thrown at Ashley is beyond me, particularly when you consider the shit that's supposed to have happened at Shirebrook. Imo, you'll also probably find that the general public will deem the running of a football club to be less important than the working rights of the working class.

The danger of making the protest against Cashley overtly political is that you marginalise the NUFC fan base who, for the most part,  just want a new owner and invite the band wagon anarchists on board.

Socialists tend to favour the state apparatus, especially when they have control. Anarchists wish to abolish such apparatus.

Your man with the megaphone is clearly of the former position.

I believe it was the North East section of the National Shop Stewards Network that were there. They tweeted this earlier.

"We're not party political. We have no loyalty to any MPs. We're rank-and-file worker reps and football supporters. Nothing precludes us from participating. And, the club's fortunes are tied to his malfeasance."

I really hope these protests start ramping up.  If league results start to go from bad to worse, we need to start protesting at the ground.  It can be after 90 minutes initially, but sooner or later we need to start making a stand when and where we can make the biggest impact.

Exactly!

Must be more protests at the games. With a lot negative about sports direct and Ashley when showed on TV.

It has nothing to do with not supporting the team.

Can't see why we can't do both.

Support the team and Rafa, protest against Ashley and sports direct.

Don't think protesting against Ashley will distract the players as I think all the players want's to get rid of Ashley as well.

Something like this at a sky televised game- with Ashleys competitors (Decathlon, Intersport or DW sports branding) might make an impact
