Andy
If both stay fit I think Almiron will benefit from having Saint Maximin in the team in the same way that Perez benefited from having Almiron in the team.
Toon No9
Think Almiron was good today. Needs to stop with the diving-stuff before it gives him a reputation that is hard to shake off. Needs a goal to make him play more relaxed, but I'm sure it will come soon.
Conjo
Starting to get a dislike for this tiny churro. Dives all the time like a cunt and is absolutely useless in front of goal. He'll warrant a place in the team on the same premise as Sissoko did.

Yorkie
It doesn't enrage me but I'd rather see him convert the diving into a more effective form of shithousery.
huss9
dive was fucking horrendous, but he did really well today. started the move that lad to the goal and generally was a threat. worked really hard. absolutely hate Bruce, but he could easily have gone with Atsu and scapegoated Almiron and a lot of fans wouldnt have complained. dont care if he goes all season without scoring as long as he contributes positively in other ways. His attempts have been abysmal so far, 2 of the worse dives this season.
Raconteur
Starting to get a dislike for this tiny churro. Dives all the time like a cunt and is absolutely useless in front of goal. He'll warrant a place in the team on the same premise as Sissoko did. I’m not quite so far as this, yet. But I’ve never warmed to him, and he’s not doing much to change my mind. He’s not useless - he has a number of admirable traits - but between the flaws in his technique and Brewcie’s management, so it’s hard to see how it gets better for him here. Lush Vlad
He is such a diving little shit Isn't that his second yellow for diving this season? Other one was Arsenal, I think? He always makes so much of a tiny bit of contact, or no contact in this case and goes down like a sack of shit. I just worry he might actually lose out on some genuine fouls, a bit like Zaha. Despite his play acting and going to shit whenever he gets in the box. I do actually rate him. His vision and passing is pretty good, he's direct with the ball, rapid as fuck. Different types of players, but he kind of reminds me of how Pepe has been at Arsenal. Looks decent and tidy, then falls apart when they get near the box. Needs to get a goal and to continue playing in the Rafa system/more centrally. When he is out wide playing as a genuine winger, he looks pretty bad. Newcastle Fan
He's starting to really annoy me, just aimlessly runs and doesn't cause the other teams any threat, and when he does get a chance to score or assist he messes it up, seems to be getting less and less confident too. Shays Given Tim Flowers
So is he aimlessly running and causing no threat or missing chance for goals and assists?
Guest dabe
It isn't that he dives, it's that he's shit at it. Finesse of a lampost.
Conjo
It is that he dives, and that he's shit at it. Embarrasing. Wish players would get retrospective bans for that kind of stuff. Say 5 games suspension or so. That would make them think twice before throwing their own dignity out of the window.
TRon
So for all those on here who are complaining about his diving/poor finishing etc, would you prefer to go with Atsu? Or is there someone else in the squad you would like to see in that position?
Consortium of one
Almiron will come good. I hope.
Kanj
There is nobody in the squad with that pace or ability to get into those positions (when he does).
Conjo
Yes, I'd rather have Atsu on under the circumstances although I would prefer if Almiron was punished and learnt not to dive anymore but that won't happen because diving is accepted and football isn't a contact sport anymore. Atsu has had more end product than Almiron since he was signed anyway so it's not that outlandish is it even though you lose a bit of graft and pace on the field. La Parka
Nah. You can't pick atsu over him. Our attacks are laboured with almiron never mind without him.
Conjo
Atsu has zero goals and two assists in the 6 games he's been involved without diving while Almiron has zero goals and assists in 8 games, plus 2 yellow cards for shameless diving. Atsu for me like.
TRon
One thing I noticed about Atsu, after a good start to the season, he went missing last few games. When Maximin came on as a sub and suddenly started running at defenders, then Atsu suddenly bucked up as well. Personally I think he is one of those who hides from the action and only comes to life when he sees someone else doing the job properly. I don't really want to see him back in the side. End product is useless if you let the opposition walk all over you.
Segun Oluwaniyi
Atsu is a decent player to have, but no serious team can have him as a long time starter. The boy works hard and has moments, but he is so easy to defend against, not a physical challenge, never beats the man, and rarely plays a telling pass. Not dynamic at all. I thin Almiron is really suffering without a proven goalscorer like Rondon and Perez. Something that worries me about this side is that neither Saint-Maximin or Almiron are really natural goalscorers, but players that should be complementing natural goalscorers. Almiron has never scored a ton of goals if you look at his career. He was the dominant player in MLS, but only got 10 goals a season and has scored once for Paraguay. Someone earlier compared him to Sissoko, and I think that is apt in some way. He'll cause all manner of havoc and create a ton of chances with his intelligent runs, pace, ability to carry the ball up the pitch and defensive effort. I think he can be a big player for a competitive club, but I don't think he'll be prolific. Both he and ASM would benefit from the other wide player in the "Rafa" 5-2-3 being a player that is more like a forward and someone who floats into decent positions and scores like Ayoze. Kanj
What would the team look like if Joelinton got shifted as a wide forward like he was last season and we had a proper CF with ASM or Miggy wide right or left?

I'm more confident that Atsu wouldn't have thrown himself to the ground as Almiron did than that he couldn't have done what Almiron did before the goal yesterday. If you need a straight yes or no answer though, it would be no. I don't really care what a player manages to bring to the team by cheating. So sick of it and I've got no respect for that attitude. I'd rather see us fielding a worse team if it meant we didn't cheat. Not difficult in these times where a loss is celebrated more than a win, but still. I hope and think that mindset will continue even if we by some miracle should start to compete to be the best we can be.
