Miguel Almirón (now playing for Atlanta United)

Recommended Posts

He's quick enough to literally just knock it past most full backs and out pace them, but he never does ... it's so bloody weird.

Waited till he was just about to be subbed before finally running at a defender, and he showed how effective he could have been at that all game.

At this point I'm totally sick of him tbh. Can't wait for the day our position in the prem is confirmed for next year, and we can start moving some of these folks on.

Not by chance that after 9 games unbeaten we lost the two he starts, get him as far from the team as possible

Bruno started the same two games, and we could have won one against the European champions but for a ref's decision, and we should have won today as well. This is a really sad use of statistics.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always wanted Miggy to do well purely on enthusiasm.

However.

He can only go past players with pace, if a defender squares him up he can only go backwards.

He can’t cross a ball with accuracy.

He’s not a natural finisher.

Got a great engine and will run and press for 90 minutes, but a premier league footballer he isn’t.

The only time in the game that he went for the line and  didn't check back he nearly had an assist. He has tremendous pace but he is frightened of losing the ball so just checks back to play it square or backwards, the safe ball. We are so weak down the right flank in attack and defence

Honestly I'd not be against playing him over Willock at times. I hate Willock's attitude. He's either Yaya Toure or a ghost.

Willock got 2 shots on target and looked a threat from midfield. What more can you ask man? Fraser and Almiron powderpuff and got no shots on target.

Almiron created arguably our best chance...

I also think he looked knackered last night and was a ghost for long periods.

Good finish there. Sad fact though is that he is lacking in many key areas to ever be a Premier League footballer and at 27 years old he isn't getting any better either. Think he'll be one of 6 or 7 players moved on this summer.

If his decision making improved 25% he'd be a very productive PL player. He has pace, technique and a decent shot on him but i've seen kids with better decision making at the crucial moments. It looks shittest when he's on the wing, so maybe being played out of position has something to do with it. Shame really, seems like a top lad

It was a nice finish but even then the ball was passed into the net. The lack of any real shooting power is his biggest weakness IMO, he'd score a lot more goals if he could really leather it.

I said in the match thread, that's the hardest I've ever seen him strike the ball. It was the exception that proved the rule.

Pop him in Southampton and he'd be grand.

He's had his best games both in terms of output and performance when played in the number 10, where he played for Atlanta. But we've seldom played with one. Bruce went to a 4-4-1-1 just before COVID in 2019-20 and we had a run of games after the restart where he played well and scored a few goals.

Burnley (h) D 0-0

West Brom (a) W 3-2, scored twice, played a key part in our third, Bruce then took him off and that's when we almost fell to bits

Southampton (a) W 1-0, along with Gayle spurned a few chances but was in the right areas

- COVID -

Sheff Utd (h) W 3-0, can't remember much of this tbh

Villa (h) D 1-1

Bournemouth (a) W 4-1, scored an unreal goal for 0-3

West Ham (h) D 2-2, scored again, finished off a lovely move for 1-1

Then he was never played in the 10 again until Southampton (h) last season where we won 3-2 and he scored twice and covered loads of ground when we went down to both 10 and 9 men. He shouldn't be played on the wing and if Howe wants to keep this 4-3-3 next season I'd cash in tbh.
