Miguel Almirón (now playing for Atlanta United)

Was gonna say that’s just a fan site but the quote seems to come from someone who works for Clarin (national newspaper iirc) so might be some legs in it. It’d be a record transfer for River so colour me sceptical.

Also, for anything around that amount just let him go if he’s willing.

Still think there’s a fair chance he goes in Jan. Joelinton’s emergence in the forward line, Gordon on the right, Murphy as an option and the fact we’ll probably sign a RW in Jan means he’s not going to get much playing time.

Harvey Barnes as an option too...

Don't believe that for a minute. There's not a chance in hell we would have turned down $18m.

Wasn't it an $18m package - Fee + Miggy's contract.  Miggy was supposed to have wanted more for the contract so the fee would have been reduced, tied into the fact Atlanta are also due a % of the sale so this would have resulted in a PSR loss for us rather than profit hence the deal was canned.

Can't remember the source for this so may have been total "ITK" bollocks at the time but sort of makes sense why we pulled the plug.
