Missed this at the end

From Guardian report

Van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, has much to ponder. At the final whistle, it was interesting to see him drifting over to Miguel Almirón, an unused home substitute earmarked for a January exit by Newcastle, and whisper something in the initially rather startled looking but subsequently smiling Paraguay’s forward ear.

Van Nistelrooy mentioned Almiron as one of our attacking threats in his pre-match press conference yesterday, which seemed odd. Just assumed it meant he hadn't done his homework but maybe there was more to it...

From what I've heard of their performance today it might still be that he just didn't do his homework. Maybe he just popped over to ask why he didn't play?

He'd be a useful pick-up for any team like that tbf. He's an experienced grafter who wouldn't cost the earth. There's still a fair bit of talent in there too - only a year ago he was exceptional in Paris; he's not exactly on the scrapheap. We're seldom going to see it here now because he's (rightfully) going to be limited to a bit-part role from now on.

ugh...hope we tell anyone hoping to loan him that its a permanent transfer or nothing. He's too good to become the new Isaac Hayden/Jack Colback/Jeff Hendrick where we're forced to loan him out every season until his contracts expires. We should be able to sell him for actual money if, as it currently looks like, we're not planning on using him as more than a 3rd choice behind Murphy and Barnes. Might not get that much for him, but surely there's someone out there who needs an experienced, versatile, fast, hardworking full international attacker.

Has he fallen out with Eddie? I can’t imagine it but why has he become persona non grata?  I know he’s not the best but to totally disappear?

Should have happened earlier IMO, he got too comfortable here. Partly our fault as well, we had chances to move him on and held out for daft fees which we were never getting.

He’s been treated slightly harshly IMO, I guess it’s because we want him out.

Think he’s been generally a bit underrated in his time here, and also very unlucky with Bruce coming in. Glad he got that purple patch anyway.

That purple patch in years to come will be a fond memory, even to a point where people will hype it up. Rightly so too.

But last night my Christ, he was bad when he came on. It was like he was the only one left out the team meeting about the plan that was in place.
