Obviously Ashley has never had the interests of the club at heart, but Pardew solidified the never-try policy on account of his ineptitude. I really wonder how different things would have been if, say, we'd picked up another five points in the 2012/13 season. Pardew would have still been reviled, of course, and the chain of events which led to Rafa would have still happened.
