We're probably giving him much needed R&R now we look safe.

Nobody wants to be put resting at the moment. The last thing anyone wants to do is miss out as there is no guarantee you get back in. He had a knock that’s why he was out.

That's not how it works.  If he is carrying a long term injury that is only going to improve with rest and recovery, then he absolutely needs time out at the earliest opportunity.  Every manager is going to balance out allowing their players to recover versus getting the best team on the pitch relative to the situation the club finds themselves in.  There's always gonna be a chance here that Joelinton would've been on the pitch if we were desperate, but we can absolutely afford to rest him now.

Of course, you could be right and he could have a new knock which means he just cannot play.  But we do know he has had this problem for a while.

Personally thought he was absolutely fine, he’s so clever about how he takes a ball down, by chesting it into space, giving himself a few extra seconds to get a pass off without any pressure. Does it several times every game. Love him

I can't believe Doucoure wasn't booked for throwing an elbow at his head.

Honestly, Pawson was another shambolic ref. He basically let them kick us up in the air in the first half then decided to over-correct in the second. He let Richarlison dive about like a fanny and Gordon throw himself about without any punishment. On a night when we needed a ref to be competent they once again were lacking.

The one on Willock was worse in the sense that he dropped to the floor and the ref played on.

There was nothing clash of heads in the first half and the ref blows his whistle more than the Everton DJ on eckies pre match.
