Quite refreshing to see a national coach dropping players due to bad form

Yep. Notice Pereira is in there. He’s a bit long in the tooth for our strategy (28) but perhaps we should sweep for him and have a full Brazillian midfield!

Forgetting him missing that sitter. He absolutely transforms our midfield. Hes everything we’ve been missing. Athletic, wins the ball, drives forward and been really good in possession.

There was talk of him needing to be upgraded in midfield on here. So easy to look past the difference he makes in there.

The real issue is upgrading Longstaff, so that he has more quality around him to make up for some of his rougher edges.

Brings way too much to our midfield to be taken out of there.

Honestly think if he’d been fit alongside Pope for the second half of the season we’d be challenging the top 4 places again. The difference they both make to our team is astounding. So with that in mind the club really should be looking for a youngster with his profile to deputise during his inevitable suspensions

Great to see him back again today. The difference he makes to our midfield - power and physicality as well as coupling up with his international teammate, to drive us forwards.

He's been a big miss.

Frustrating to see him back and quickly showing his level. Just shows how important physical presence is in the PL.

We want to have increased technical ability, of course, but the best midfields in the league all have athleticism.

Imagine being so good you miss that chance he had just to give the opposition a tiny lil bit of hope.

I honestly think he's a unicorn. You just can't find players with his physical presence who also have a great touch and decent eye for a pass.

Hope he can still get better in tight spaces in midfield and his willingness to invite contact at CM isn't always optimal when a quick one touch pass would be the better option. He's massively important now but I believe there's still room for growth as it's easy to forget he's played this position for only a couple of years.

A fully fit Willock is an able deputy for him.

They’re completely different players with entirely different characteristics surely? A fit Willock is a useful player no doubt, but he doesn’t replace the physicality lost when Big Joe is out of the team at all

Throw in that I'm sure Eddie said that part of the idea for this season gone was the he wanted Joelinton to play wide up front in some away games.
