Various: N-O has lost the plot over potential end of Mike Ashley's tenure

Recommended Posts

This is getting announced today. I can feel it.

They probably need to get the announcement done as soon as they can so that the virtue-signalers lose any real traction.  As long as the impression exists that the takeover could, in any potential way, be impacted then the vested interests will continue their attacks.  Once it has been confirmed and the Companies House records changed to reflect the takeover, the virtue-noise will settle down (it won't go away completely, but the news-media will move on).

Sheffield United have a Saudi prince as an owner. Highly doubt this Amnesty stuff will change s***

There is no way the Royal family will go through with this without being 100% sure. They would not want to look stupid in the media.

Where was Amnesty when they tried to buy Man United or Liverpool though, seriously.

Sheffield United have a Saudi prince as owner, however they aren't owned by the Saudi government.

Amnesty have only come out today, when we're almost finished the deal. Man Utd/Liverpool never got nearly as close as this. Are we seriously trying to suggest now that Amnesty International are also biased against Newcastle?

He's still part of the extended royal family, government and royal family are the same thing there. I'm not trying to suggest bias but where was the outcry from them at Qatar being granted the World Cup?

Here.

The UAE takeover of City?

Chinese and Russian involvement in football? Did I miss something?

Here and here

Out of interest did they write to the Premier League when Fosun took complete control of Wolves? China have arguably a worse HR record than SA. I can't find anything.

Do you think the British state own Newcastle United currently?

This shite needs to be kept in the other thread.

To be fair a drawn out process will heighten the bandwagon moral haters having a pop at the Saudis, the PL will I agree want to get this through quick now.

There’s a feeling , just a feeling this could get done if not this week next.Fingers crossed.

Mid May. The apple cart is getting upset and the old school are dead against it. “How dare a little club up north end possible have so much potential?”  It fucking stinks!  And if it goes through I hope no one forgets the vitriol thrown at the fans during this.

BBC news has just claimed the deal has hit a snag as Bein sports have complained to the prem league.

This came out last night mate, it’s what we are discussing

Yeah,  I caught up with the last couple of pages,  I was just adding that the BBC running with Beins complaint now.

My take on Bein: the test is almost done and the PL will approve it, so Bein try to sabotage it because of the reasons many people in here already said.

Why now not two weeks ago or in January? Because two weeks ago the deal was far away from complete/the PL didn't do the test yet. When Bein saw the deal is approved then they try to sabotage it.

The premier league can’t stop a deal because of advice/request from someone surely. That would open up a potential shit storm with this situation and set a precedent for future deals (and a litany of problems) and potential court cases.

The deal has to be judged on the buyers specific criteria as set by the fit and proper persons test regardless of how effective this is seen as.

They didn't even mention Guantanamo when Kroenke or the Glazers took over at their clubs.

BeIN have been doing this thing with increasing regularity in recent years. They've made similar threats to La Liga and Serie A when they've got close to the Saudis.

I think the PL would rather not have the hassle at this point, and if they could safely reject it they would. The question is do they think they have a strong enough case to win the inevitable court action and are they comfortable setting a precident on either moral grounds or by following orders from broadcasters/getting involved in geopolitics.

I definitely think there's something in the suggestion that the PL will want it off their desk and could rubber stamp it sooner rather than later. Longer it goes on the worse the outlook.
