He's absolutely done man. Christ, we're still far too much a soft touch with stuff like this.

This is my opinion as well.

We need to be ruthless, we only got rid of Ritchie and Dummett at the end of last season because we missed out on European football.

Wilson is past it, he offers us nothing. He should be out of the door.

Only reason I can think of giving Wilson a contract (and we still sign someone who can play up front), is Osula going out on loan?

Or they are looking at Osula being brought along as more of a wide forward initially perhaps?

Is Howe responsible for this, if so then he's too loyal and not ruthless.

Agreed. Love Eddie but this is just fkn ridiculous. Far too loyal to some shite imo. Wilson was excellent for us but his time has most definitely passed.

It'll be a token gesture.

We'll be offering him buttons and limited playing time.

You don't know that - fair enough if it's a similar contract to what Richie had I.e happy not playing but good character to have around but Wilson will expect to play

Question ...

Is this acceptable if it helps us offer the kind of contract to Isak that means we can re-sign him?

And then also sign a rotation striker from abroad that is more affordable, but who may need a bit of time to adjust? And so Callum is just insurance?

In theory i wouldn't mind giving him an extension with low base wages, the problem is just that Eddie will prioritize him over f.ex. Osula or someone else who comes in.

He waved goodbye to the fans.

He said on his podcast he wanted to play regularly.

We offered him a performance based contract.

We were in for Delap.

It doesn't seem like a massive leap?

Like Dummett and Ritchie. Finished players but expensive cheerleaders.

If we sign a back up striker I have no problem with Wilson, I just not see the point.

We shouldn’t be relying on Wilson playing any minutes next season. He can’t even be considered insurance tbh.

Guys - we knew this.

We did especially after Eddie's presser - just doesn't want to let him go. It's one area where having a DOF comes in - can be more ruthless as they lack that bond

I can kind of see it if we are either looking at loaning Osula out or using him more in wide areas for now.

And maybe we go for a younger rotation striker we like, but who may need a bit of time to acclimate to the Prem.

And so maybe the option of Wilson for a bit of physicality and making a nuisance of himself is deemed worthwhile?

Like others have mentioned though, he's going to want to play and so may not accept that.

Hard to say really.

Yes, I get it. But the manager doesn't view him as being a complete write off.

And so I'm trying to look at it from his point of view.
