If Man City lose this I'd love to see a graphic of the expected goals for every CL knockout game Pep has lost

He's playing without a forward.  Only himself to blame here.

Well obviously, any shot that isn't a goal isn't accurate enough, even if it is on target

But your argument is that if it's quite close to the target (post, bar) that's unlucky, fair enough but disagree.

At least a shot on target can go in.

A miss is as good as a mile.

Because you've beaten the keeper

Some instances it isn't unlucky to hit the woodwork but most cases it is

Depends on which parts of the woodwork imo. If it hits the woodwork and bounces off the line or hits the keeper or something, yeah - it’s unlucky.

If it his the woodwork and comes straight back out or goes out of play, it’s not unlucky and is just an inaccurate shot.

Even if it hits his head first it’s still surely a pen ? He sticks his arm right out

He sticks his arm out to get it out of the way so he can try to head it. Very harsh IMO

Made what look deliberate? Heading it against his own arm?

Yep. Held his arm close to his head so it was going to be one or the other. Thought it reaction told it all.

If he meant to head it only he would’ve dived to head it. He went with both. Maybe one of those when your brain is overriding your intention but knowing Can he was being cute and was caught out.
