Pata
Bruce looks like an out of date tin of pek on the touchline. ;D Turned off after 1-1 tbh! Looking like 4th from bottom again lads! We finished 13th last season.

geordiesteve710
VAR is there to help the referee when they haven’t had a clear view or have just got it wrong. It’s not there to show an official at Stockley Park what actually happened and for them to ignore it and not let the ref know that they may have got it wrong. Kevin Friend is as bad as it gets when it comes to us. Between Friend and Hooper I'm not sure the concept of awarding a penalty to Newcastle registers as within the laws of the game. Pair of fucking dunces. As for Bruce's postmatch remarks I'm incredulous, I really am. If, after a result like this, he can't see why allowing the opposition several shots at goal unimpeded whilst offering very little attacking threat isn't shit then I don't know whrn he will. samptime29
Well it felt like 4th from bottom! No it didn't. We were never in relegation trouble. We finished in lower mid table.
ED209
It all fell apart when Joelinton was subbed. I think he was grafting and doing a decent job. Gayle offered none of that.
pinkeye
Longstaff was incredibly poor. Is there something wrong with him?
BeloEmre
Longstaff was incredibly poor. Is there something wrong with him? It’s just that he’s a very average player imo and when he’s playing under a shit house like Bruce he’s totally useless.
Guest
McClen had a similar run to Longstaff’s half a dozen good games under Benitez (not as good mind you) for a spell in 2001/2. I’m not saying his career will go the same way but we’ve seen before young players coming in starting well and not making it long term.
Happinesstan
Didn't even realise we played. That's a cracking result.

I cant remember that part of his career.
Guest
Had a spell of games (Peterborough & Arsenal in the cup and Spurs away when we beat them).
astraguy
I see motd wasn't critical against Bruce had that been a Rafa team they'd of spent 30 mins of the tactics he got wrong
Guest
It looked encouraging for the first 5 minutes yesterday too. We were pressing them high up the pitch and forcing them into giving the ball away to us in their half. Didn’t take long to revert to type.
alexf
Team looked completely fucked physically from about 65 mins or so. Particularly Hayden, Longstaff and Joelinton.

Happinesstan
Didn't even realise we played. That's a cracking result. Such bullshit First bit definitely not bullshit. I didn't know what people were talking about in the Sean Longstaff thread. Second bit? Slight sarcasm, but also a salient point. Ste've been lucky to avoid such demonstrable humiliation, since Haemorrhoid-heed took over. And it's rattled one or two cages in the pundit parlour. So, in terms of the smaller, bigger picture, a cracking result. Such an angry arsehole.
Cronky
Team looked completely fucked physically from about 65 mins or so. Particularly Hayden, Longstaff and Joelinton. I suppose when you haven't got the ball 70% of the time that's a lot of pressing and shadow chasing to maintain. The players did look lethargic. We have a defensive mindset anyway, and there may have been some reaction to Covid in some players, but Leeds's energy levels were considerably above ours. The telling incident for me was in the lead up to their second goal, when Clark tried to clear with something of a vertical header which landed about 5 yards outside the penalty area. Hayden and Longstaff were both in a position to challenge for the ball, but they both just stood there and allowed the Leeds player to bring the ball down and move it out wide. We made it far too easy. No way would Leeds have let one of our players do that. Because of our defensive tactics, the players often seem to concentrate on getting behind the ball and don't always put in for a 50-50 challenge in case they get beaten. We've been grinding out results like this for the last few years - it didn't begin with Bruce, I don't care what anyone says. On Wednesday, of course it didn't come off. We are limited by the players we have, but I do hope we manage to build a side that can get on the front foot more. And the issue there is the finance, not the manager at the present time. GWN
We are the only team in every game we go on the back foot early in a game , home or away in the PL. Couple of early goals doesn’t mask that fact
