People were talking about “why doesn’t MBS have a word” when it wasn’t going through so I was just bringing a more sensible take to the table, I guess . See my post above; I just said it wasn’t a priority and I stand by that now. Edited July 10 by McCormick

Guest
There was news like 6 months ago of Stevely annually decreasing her stake in Newcastle. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-co-owner-amanda-28494021 Quote Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley has reduced her stake at St James' Park but remains one of the figureheads behind the scenes. The Ripon financier's stake has gone down from 10% to 6% since the original takeover in October 2021. The change means that the Reuben family - with Jamie Reuben the visible director at the club - has gone up to 14%. Newcastle's main benefactors remain Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund who have an 80% stake at St James' Park. The recent annual accounts showed that Staveley was handed £659,000 of club funds for legal fees in August last year and £600,000 in November the year before. READ MORE: Newcastle United transfer news LIVE - Almiron interest, Wilson & Trippier latest READ MORE: Bayern Munich engage in 'transfer poker' to try to land Newcastle United star Kieran Trippier Club sources stated this month that they were unable to state what the funds were for but any loans will be repaid. Cantervale, Staveley’s company, was paid £312,000 for advisory services in the year to July 2023. It was also paid £937,500 in 2022. The accounts also state: "The Group has also paid £625,000 to Cantervale Limited during the year which will be refunded subsequent to the balance sheet date." Staveley was one of the central figures during the club's Amazon documentary and was involved in board meetings, player sales and sponsorship negotiations. And that day-to-day involvement is set to continue with the director currently overseeing the club's difficult January and the downturn in Premier League form. Staveley has championed the football club at every turn and wants to see it succeed on the pitch. In the wake of the Carabao Cup final, the financier boldly predicted the Magpies would end their trophy hoodoo in the coming years. "We will win the Carabao Cup, we will win the FA Cup, we will the Champions League and we will win the Premier League. This is all about the amazing fans that have taken us on this journey, and we're just honoured and humbled and feel very privileged to help run Newcastle United," she said. Now they are leaving. That creates a gap. Now in reality they may have been hands off for some time and this is all part of the plan... but I don't know any of those things for certain. The spokesperson for the club going forward is going to be an employee like Eales or Mitchell. At least Chelsea had Marina who seemed to have a direct line to the big boss. Eales might have a direct line but I would rather someone with closer ties to the owners. We'll see. Edited July 10 by The College Dropout
J7
I’m not sure where the logic comes from that buying up another 6% of the club shows that the Saudis are now less interested.

If AS had the funds to match investment then she would still be here, unfortunately she doesn't and to allow for heavier investment, she needs to sell her shares. Business can be cruel sometimes. Tiresias
it becomes who does PIF trust most to call the shots, they trusted Staverley. (This could be bad news for Howe as she has clearly been his biggest champion) Maybe they have that trust in Eales (well they oughta have some trust in him since he is still in the job), may also be they have developed trust with the Reubens who despite their lower stake will probably be easier to be more involved. I'm sure her replacement will be equally if not more competent, but she brought the passion which everyone connected with.
Dr Jinx
I've watched a few of her depositions and she can come across as a bit naive at times. Won't go as far to say an artist at it but definitely a hint of the aul bullshit at times. Her skill is in networking and bringing people together. Finders fees are the reward and looks like she will walk away from this with a few million despite not having anything to put into it in the first place. Quite impressive actually. toon25
Gutted tbh. Amanda Staveley almost single handedly saved us. Will always remember a really touching clip or article when some of the catering staff clapped and cheered her when the takeover went through and she went to see them. Remember an older lady saying that she's not only saved the club, but the jobs and futures of hundreds of local families. Incredible.
Tiresias
I imagine they have been annoyed but they have also been really realistic in everything they've said from day one that it would take a long time to get to where they want to be. Equally I don't ultimately think they will mind that the club is being forced to only spend what it makes, i do think people are a bit hopeful in how much they purely want to pump money in, I think they want to pump as much money in to get the club to compete but they will be looking more at how to get the revenue up and up and the players will take care of themselves. I also think we are just one investment out of many and our chairman has only been so present cos all the sports stuff he does is clearly a bit of a jolly for him in contrast with the more boring business stuff (and trying to avoid court intrigue that will get him disappeared)
