£18m for sleeve and training ground sponsor is pretty good considering we were getting £7.5m off Noon for sleeve sponsor alone.

I thought we wouldn't see a training ground sponsor until we got a new training ground. So this is good.

Previously, the training ground and training kit have not had sponsors because Newcastle had a future rate in mind which they wanted to achieve and previous senior figures suggested they did not want to sell themselves short. Hopkinson’s view is that any unsold commercial space in the short term is a revenue opportunity Newcastle are overlooking. With income tied to potential spend within the regulations, and also a correlation between income and on-field success, that can negatively affect the budget Howe has to work with and the quality of team he can put out on the pitch.

Above is from The Athletic piece on this.

Some common sense from Hopkinson. Have probably left a lot of revenue out there by wanting to wait for a “future rate”. Hopefully a lot more to come, and soon.

Couldn’t they have just signed shorter term deals with Saudi sponsors ?

You’d imagine so.

I’m drafting an angry message to Peter Silverstone on LinkedIn to ask him about it.

It’s £18m over three years - Noon are paying £7.5m per season

UFC events at the new stadium.

It would bring in commercial revenue, so I’d have to close my ears and look the other way if they did - UFC is a fucking horrible ‘sport’ which has ended up doing a lot of damage to the world outside its small fanbase

And it being ran by people that make boxing look like a sport full of integrity.

100% mate.  Dana White is such a whiny neo-fascist cunt that he makes me pine for the days when convicted murderer Don King was fleecing boxers out of millions

Folks have been reading between the lines for quite some time.  It’s flannel; wishful thinking.  And if you have zero proof then it is plucked from thin air.

Some of my ‘favourite’ nonsense has been in the excuses made for the non-materialisation of these super duper sponsorship deals which are always just around the corner.

Bookmark away - every time anyone on this thread has made this claim it’s come up empty.  The goalposts usually get moved - ‘they’re waiting on the Man City case’, ‘they’re being blocked by the PL’, etc.

Bookmark this - by June there’ll be less than £10m p.a. worth of additional commercial deals.

£4m to go 😂🤞🏼
