The thing with Sela is - I think we all know that the deal with them is some kind of financial shenanigans, what with them being part of PIF and the fact that no one really knows what they are or what benefit they get from sponsoring us.

SURELY after three years the commercial team could have found an genuine sponsor for us that creates actual revenue for the owners?

The sela deal is just pif funding is via proxy, they wanted to spend and making us the best at that point.

Barcelona went 100+ years without one but aye lets kick PIF, Starmer and Howe out because we might not start the season with one

Can you post the answers, please?

No front of shirt close

Gordon likely to go

Samu is expensive and has an ACL injury so a none starter.

Andy Howes role hasn't changed according to Waugh.

Aye, but I heard it from my barber, who’d had the club photographer in. Far too many loose lips around.

I was slightly wrong in my original post, from what Waugh said Andy Howe now reports to the sporting director and not Nickson, so basically formalising his temporary role.

We are really compromised...

I am one of life’s worriers, but I am getting increasingly concerned that this summer is going to be an action replay of last summer

I don't think it will be like last summer personally , our noses were well and truly blooded and I think the hubris we entered last summer with is gone.

I think the question is, can the seemingly new strategy work with our current set up? If we are aiming for players with more upside are they going to get that chance?

It's going to be a very revealing summer.

It is - my concern is that this has all been PowerPoint presentationed away.  Zero accountability for last year, no changes in personnel - the only thing which can’t happen again is wasting time on unrealistic targets, given our diminished status and lack of a budget

What kind of accountability are you expecting? I think we have us a bit of a package deal honestly and the backing of Eddie is the backing of his ways including his nephew.

On the surface, it appears the club is taking the approach of we did him wrong and want to make up for it.

Personally I’d have fired the nepo baby.  But not allowing for that, we seem critically understaffed if said nepo baby was in the position he was last summer - we’re coming up to half a decade in; where are the professional scouting and transfers team?

Personally I feel like PIF have took their foot off the pedal ever since the PSR hit which led to Staveley and Mehrdad leaving. Howe staying is the easier option, the club seems to be running on "steady as she goes" lines now.

I doubt there will be too much upheaval unless we have a disastrous start to the campaign next time round.

Id have never hired him  I learnt he followed uncle to Burnley for that short stint too so I think it's very much buy one get one free.

We have plenty of scouts and obviously nickson should have been taking up the reigns in lieu of the sporting director as his job title is 'head or recruitment' as he seemingly wasn't and was responsible for outgoings indicates he was sidelined. @Minhosa has eluded to this as well

They likely couldn’t have sacked Howe even if they wanted to - there’s a good chance given our league placing that paying the manager £10m to clear his desk might topple us over

Nah, we could have and obviously we will be selling this summer so financially we will be fine.

I think Eddie has/had credit in the bank and they've allowed this one. I doubt he gets much more rope though.

@Minhosa’s post was really interesting - I can only imagine what Nickson was thinking as last summer unfurled.  It also shows that there were people at the club who knew better and were ignored.

Selling in the summer doesn’t have any bearing on today tbf :)

Despite what people say, I don't see Howe walking away either. It's a lot of money, and not sure if him walking would mean his staff would lose their pay offs as well.

As long as it's done before 30/6 it does ;)

The Nickson stuff is really interesting isn't it? For me it was a really great demonstration of the amount of power and influence Eddie had at that moment in time. Let's be honest the instruction to essentially make Andy Howe Nicksons boss for the summer came from somewhere.

It is understandable, you would think the manager and by proxy his nephew would have a good idea who would suit the system and style, it's also why I give both of them far less bail about the fuck ups of last summer than many others do.

I’d imagine this seasons shit show has massively impacted sponsorship negotiations, no European football and the club appears stale as fuck, with little excitement around it at the moment.
