What a talented but beautiful man. So emotional in the stands yesterday. Disbelief, hope, prior pain - then bang, Winners. I love this club and how the club showed up as one unstoppable force. And then he’d have spent his full time presser making up nonsense how Liverpool can’t compete financially with Newcastle and how it’s all an unfair advantage. He’s now done something for us that no one has done since 1969. I have had my doubts, posted them after the Brentford game in December, thought his time was coming to an end. How wrong was I? I have to say, one thing I hope we take on to other matches going forward, was the way we went more direct when under pressure at the back. I think this avoided us losing the ball as much in dangerous areas, which has gifted away so many easy opportunities to opposition teams this season. Our midfield is so competitive and high energy that they also do a great job of winning second balls in central areas from any knock downs too, so we were causing them a ton of problems that way. Really think that approach suited us, and can be utilised more against teams that do a good job of pressing us, and make it difficult for us to play out from the back. Saw far less mistakes playing out from the back from Burn and Schar yesterday. Joelinton wasn't forced the ball in tight areas under pressure, and Murphy didn't have to drop deeper and get involved in build up as much. But with this being a big game and Liverpool having a long, tiring and disappointing game midweek it worked. Also Liverpool would defend high and try to keep the ball which we don't often face. It was the right horse for the course. Eddie doesn't always get it right but he's shown a number of times he can come up with a winning game plan against top opposition. He thrives on it imo.
