Exactly. We weren’t far off Liverpool around that time. They replaced Houllier at the right time and brought in an ambitious replacement. We totally fucked it, made a mess off it, did it at the wrong time and brought in a truly horrendous replacement. ‘Sacking Bobby’, wasn’t the issue.

Robson was also managing one of the world’s richest clubs - our turnover was a long way ahead of two of the current ‘big six’ and was comparable to Liverpool’s.

Coming towards the end game for Eddie, I think - particularly if we are unable to bring in new faces in Jan, and he can't sort out the issues defensively and our consistency. Mid-table finish won't be good enough for PIF come May,  This squad may well be broken up then and someone else brought in.

U don’t just sack a manager after few poor results/ performances ffs, has my backing till the end of the season at least.
in 2 weeks we could have 6 points against Leicester and Ipswich and in a semi final

It's not a poor few results though is it , I love Eddie but we've been pretty shite for the best part of a year now .

Gone down hill since he made Bruno captain IMO, was an unnecessary thing to do, and he isn't a leader.

Wonder if that's maybe disgruntled the players a bit?

Aye, I wonder about this as well. Not sure it's something Bruno wants or thrives on either. Was there also talk of some senior leadership group in the team? There is nothing will divide a team quicker than some of them feeling less important than others imo

And yet he finished 5th the season before he was sacked.

The performances had taken a massive dive, and he was managing a club which had a turnover level with Liverpool.  It was underperformance and looking like a decline.  Souness being utterly incompetent was the issue with his replacement.

Be interesting to see what he says about that.

Love the bloke but he’s got 3 games to save his job. Go out of the cup and poor results in the other two I think the board will pull the trigger before January and I wouldn’t blame them.

I suppose the reason you don’t get rid of a manager is because they will come good and achieve your ambitions. Howe is not going to do that, is he? He will never win us anything.  Being honest with ourselves, he isn’t.  Nor will any other fucker, of course, but a roll of the dice can at least freshen things up, spark…something. We are like the definition of a football ceiling at this point but personally I would enjoy a new manger to give us that same boost Howe did. So whatever.

Definitely feel this, although Bruno is a brilliant character, he's not the leader.

The group of Lascelles,Trippier, Wilson, Burn, they were the core group who everyone was looking up to when they arrived. Trippier was a brilliant captain during the early period.

The fact none of us truly know what's gone on in his private life, the fact he's looked to get away perhaps forced the manager into a change of heart, Bruno is certainly the leader on the pitch while orchestrating what we do, but I'm not sure for captaining.

Struggle to see him turning the inconsistency around because Botman will not be the cure. I had hoped he’d be here for a long time and he has been hamstrung by PSR, and a weird obsession with Guehi, but it’s not looking good.

Everyone except Hall and Burn have been below par all season and that only points to one thing.

Not sure what he can say. It’ll be the same learn from our mistakes, put in work in the training ground. we have faith etc.

It’d be unprofessional to say owt else

Who do people realistically think could come in and do better?  Sadly the players that got us forth in the league are on the decline - Pope, Tripps, Schar, Burn - we've also players out of form in Joelinton, Gordon, Bruno (to an extent - not hit the form when we finished 4th).  We've also still got Championship level players in Longstaff and Murphy.  The squad isn't the best - which is one of the reasons for our inconsistency.  Add to that our RW/LW are very young and still learning their trade.

First half was decent. Besides all the noise, we have conceded 7 in two games and I’d say 4 or 5 were very soft/due to mistakes/individual error.

Been saying it since the start of the season and it hasn’t improved - we really do look poorly coached 80% of the time.

The negative emotional tide is truly turning against him, replace him now with who though? Not sure it’s the answer, but after the shitshow of a summer we had who knows. It’s all felt a bit toxic since Howe lost the majority of his power behind the scenes.. usually that means the clock is ticking regardless of what happens on the pitch.

It wasn’t luck to finish 4th, we were a good side and Howe provided some exceptional management and coaching.  We’re a long way short at the moment including Howe but we can’t be rewriting history.

It wasnt luck, but it was a feelgood factor around the whole place after we got rid of Ashley. Players giving it all every game and overachieving skill wise. How many points did Almirons screamers get us?

Not to mention very few injuries.

Starting to think it was just the stars aligning and that its not going to be repeatable.

Mitchell should be having discussions with Iraola about coming here from Bournemouth.

If he can get them playing the sort of football they do with a Ryan Christie and Lewis Cook partnership in midfield then surely he can better that with Bruno and Tonali.
