The Butcher
We're not coached to keep the ball, so bringing on a an extra defender was our chance.
Mills and Boon
We've just dominated the game and would have won if not for a flukey shank off a shin
Mountain
I don't blame the manager for this one. Just a freak equalizer, a slow motion car crash of an overhead shin. 2 on target and 2 goals is just peak Premier League, happens to everyone these stupid things. Crap result, middling-to-decent performance but ultimately undermined by the goalkeeper (again) and a rare bad day for Burn. If we beat Burnley at the weekend it's not too bad this but we really need to cut out this late pissing away of points, it's such a massive hold back for us. Not a fan of changing formation in the dying minutes to hold a lead. Rarely works out. Sets doubt in the players minds, which when you are as mentally weak as this lot are ends up costing you wins. Don't mind bringing a more defensivly minded player in mid, or fresh legs, but extra cb is out of the Steve Bruce book of game management, especially when you sacrifice the wrong player. Everyone laughs when a manager hoys on all his attackers in a desperate attempt at a point, same goes the other way for me.

Ellis H
3 points off 5th with a very winnable game next. We just need to win a few in a row to get the confidence up.

He can't be blamed for the defenders and goalkeeper letting a ball pass them in slow motion into the back of the net. Nah it wasn’t imo, it invites unnecessary pressure against a team which created nowt. Should have brought Ramsey on like he was going to.

Leaving aside the lack of defending on the shot, we should be winning that second ball

However, our summer business has been shown to be shocking so far, with the exception of Woltemade who was forced by the sale of Isak and Thiaw who we had been tracking for 3 years. Where the fuck was the forward thinking or planning? Surely we don’t spend so long to come up with a winger who can’t control a football, a midfielder who is much of a muchness and a goalkeeper (who we all agreed we needed an upgrade) who is a massive downgrade? Can the manager even be excused for this? Ive got no idea at the minute. Fully onboard with the summer window being shite. Even if Elanga & Ramsey do come good in a years time, it'll be a year too late - we bought them for this season. Signing Ramsdale, despite having little faith in him. Thiaw, Big Nick were good signings so far. Waiting on Wissa. Scouting went stale for sure.
The Butcher
Losing so many points from a winning position and how many in stoppage time is just 'bad luck'? Aye, okay. On to Burnley. Need a good performance and a win. Anything else than a win... ooofff.

But the pattern of conceding late goals which has now meant we've dropped the most points in the league at the death surely has to rest collectively with manager and players. It's a pattern he needs to reverse quickly.

Nobody
Should have cleared our lines before it even went out for a corner, then an incredibly lucky shinned overhead kick in slow motion gets them the point. Bringing an experienced Shär on for Miley made sense as well, just didn't work out.
Yorkie
No real beef with the principle of bringing on an extra defender to see it out a lead, but there's clearly a mentality issue in the team. Ultimately it all stems from the fact we've played 13 games and been more than one goal in front on two occasions, and one of those was only for a few minutes against Forest. The defending or defensive tactical decisions are always first in line for a hammering post-game, but these issues are irrelevant/don't happen if we score more. Selling our goal machine striker and his replacement getting injured before he'd kicked a ball has basically defined our season up to this point. The issue I have with it is that the formation was solid up until that point and was limiting Spurs’ opportunities, but the change then had that formation go out of the window. I could understand it more of Woltemade came off, and we were going to use Elanga or Gordon as a potential target for the counter attack, but dropping from 3 midfielders to 2 didn’t make any sense, especially when that midfielder was playing deep. Kid Icarus
He really needs to sort out this mentality issue when we score, it's fucking insane like. It really looked like we'd planted the seeds for it against Everton, so to go and then do that at home to a side that offered nothing other than their 2 shots is just mental. I don't think that's actually treating what happened today on its own merits tbh, working backwards and finding causation where there wasn't any. It looks bad in context of the season, but it was a freak goal to concede. No issues with the Schar sub in the actual context of the game.
TheInfiniteOdyssey
Real lack of slyness and cunning in this team to see games out this season. We’re desperate to kill games dead like Trippier used to do in recent seasons etc. It feels like we soak up so much pressure until we inevitably burst. Pilko
I do think when the nature of how we conceded late and effectively tossed away two points settles, this is not such a bad result if we can beat Burnley at the weekend. If you'd said after the Brentford debacle that we'd get ten points from City, Everton, Spurs and Burnley I don't think there's anyone much less than delighted with that.
