But we didn’t draw the tie. We got blown off the park 1st half because we were all over the shop.

We were 3 nowt down in 30 mins because our midfield was non existent and our defenders were like circus clowns.

We didn't draw the tie also because Gordon, Willock, Wissa, Elanga, Wissa again all missed massive goalscoring opportunities. That's before mentioning the home game.

Speaks volumes of his professionalism and expectations. Remain keen to hear the alternatives from folk...

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have any suggestions on alternatives and I love Eddie and want him to fix this.

But I can also see that we’re a mess on the pitch game after game. And I’m not blinkered enough to think everything will get fixed because I love Eddie.

We should be better than we have been this season and especially this current run of form.  Trying to salvage something out of these last two games should be well beneath us. That's more of a dig at the team than the criticism is.

100% focus on winning the Champions League. Let's go.

Winning it is the only way we're getting CL next season

Not everything is fixable/controllable by any manager though. Sometimes you just have to ride the disappointment and keep short-term frustration from clouding a long-term overview.

Shoulda woulda coulda doesn’t lead to success. I prefer to look at the facts over the mid term.

We’ve been awful in way too many games this season. And we’re not a shadow of the Howe side I fell in love with in 21-23.

Tonight wasn’t a blip. We’re consistently conceding goals for fun, especially at critical moments and struggling to convert chances game after game.

It looks to me like he wants us to play one way...but it's the other way. (Bit of a massacre of the Marlow quote from the Wire but you get the gist).

It's not like City didn't miss a fuckton aswell.

We were nowhere near getting through this semi-final.

Admire his "win every game at any cost" all you guys want, but he will never be successful playing in Europe if he doesn't learn how to think ahead and manage a squad through a season.

Last two games have been rough but both expected defeats and with a lack of options in the midfield and at the back. Two displays which had their faults and plenty of them, but I don't really see what else he could have done that much differently to suddenly end two massive away hoodoos against the best two teams in the land in the space of five days.

We could do with a win against Brentford desperately on Saturday, mind. He needs to get the set-up right but some of these lads (Wissa, Woltemade, Tonali, Thiaw, Elanga - all players he put his bet on) need to up their games and pull a result out for their manager.

I don’t have short term frustration, I’ve been really patient and have actively argued for other people to be patient and not demand he gets sacked every time we lose.

And I’m still patient, I’m just increasing feeling like Eddie at his very best is an outstanding manager who can polish a turd. And he’s maybe not able to adapt his style enough to cope with the demands of a club in CL and wanting to compete in 3 x domestic trophies.

And even if the worst happens and he gets bulleted or walks, I’d love him for everything he did here.

It happens all the time in all walks of life, someone who was perfect to get you from A to B might not be the person to take your from B to C. There’s no shame or negativity in that, it is what it is.

I didn’t marry my first long term girlfriend, it was class for a while then we outgrew each other and I needed more adventure both in and out of the bedroom. Shit happens.

Yeah, as above, Eddie's had a few little bad runs and I defended him on every one of them. Remember one such occasion weeks before the cup final (after Bournemouth iirc) I was defending him against people slagging him. We'd always came out of them before. Thought we might have this season but its not happening -its a season long run of form and performances like that.

Think the whole motivation of the project being stalled as taken a few % out of everybody too.

Not having even a couple of proper days on the training ground is killing him like but then you’d have hoped the players would have it in them to play a few different systems without it.

I highly recommend looking at previous examples of how teams having these transition seasons/seasons in the Champions League fare despite having managers everyone would agree are very good.

well said. It's of course not a given that he'll pull us out every time, but he's had a good track record of it up until now.

Do we think we’d have the same struggles with a Europa or Conference League campaign and Howe?

If so, as he needs time in the training ground, how could we ever fully progress if we can only be in Europe biannually?

We're not a mess game after game though that's the thing. We're decent in one and bad in the next, in general, or actually more accurately in one half and not in the next.

We are but them scoring those opportunities changes tonight's game. We had to go and get goals and we didn't. We tactically took that risk and it wasn't that tactically that didn't pay off it was that individuals didn't provide the outcomes expected from the situations they were in.

The players struggling to get up to speed now are predominantly the new ones. In future seasons they won't be and I doubt we'll have summers where we bring in that many new players all at once, Howe's said himself he doesn't like it.

Which is why Howe is receiving criticism - it’s his job to fix that.  So far this season, he hasn’t.  There’s still time yet.

Fair but I reckon we had just as many clear cut opportunities as them over the two ties only they took some of theirs and we took one of ours.

I’m worried as well.

Feel like we need a summer of change on the pitch, the deadwood players that are somehow still here and the played who’ve done a good job for us but aren’t good enough need to be moved on.

Also feel we need a lot more quality. Not spending vast amounts of money on players who’ve excelled at mid table clubs.
