If we lose on Saturday do people start to get it, we are conceding a fuck load of goals and opened up far too easy plus all over the shop when attacking. Press high but never really get far then loads of space up the pitch for teams to attack. If he says we are knackered when he's just went and played first team players then fuck me.

2nd half was the way it was because we were 5 down in the tie, the team as a whole looks a fucking shambles

You mean like a plan B? Wishful thinking sadly.

Literally started the match with a plan B. Happy you remembered to watch tonight though as it was a juicy loss.

Is it not true?

It is true, it just doesn't suit some users' agendas so that fact is an inconvenience - hence the reaction.

True, but seeing as we've got to go to Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City that may well end up as 27 points from 11 games

didn't say that it was going to be easy. It means that have run out of slip ups beyond them. Arsenal and Man City are pretty much write-offs. Maybe Arteta will start on his classic choke job when they meet us and drop 2 points though.

Reminded me of 6 or 7 years ago that tonight.

Eddie's been nothing short of fantastic for us, he'll be forever a legend with the cup win and also 2 CL qualifications.

But we are going backwards and those 5 summer signings for £250m have been a failure.

I hope he can get us up to 7th and qualify for Europe, and go on hold terms in the summer, I just no longer think he's the man to give £300m to in July.

or this is a blip in his otherwise upward trajctory. We aren't even through with this season. Just not enough data points to say he's found his ceiling...especially after giving us our best season in recent memory.

And 23/24 wasn't nearly as bad as people say. 60 points would likely get us comfortably into Europe this season. We've got 14 games to get 27 points, and Howe usually has finished the final third relatively strong.

That’s why I said “possibly hit his ceiling”

Maybe he can make the step up, maybe he can’t. But someone at NUFC needs to make a call about whether we’re willing to stick or twist.

And if we twist, who’s a better option that we can actually persuade to join.

No-one can deny we’re a shadow of the team we were and whatever Howe is doing isn’t working in the circumstances.

this is where I am not confident at all that they'd even find someone at the same level.

First of all, the team doesn't look a shambles.

Second half we more than matched Man City, whatever the consequences were.

Thirdly, I actually reluctantly agree with you. If we are defeated on Saturday then I expect Eddie to come under pressure.

Fourthly, if we win on Saturday do YOU get it?

Come on man, enforced plan Bs are not the same as mixing up your systems and tactics by choice.

Wissa got 19 league goals last season.  In a Brentford side.  Yes we overpaid but what choice did we have in the end.. on paper we were signing a PL proven striker.  But it hasn't worked out yet, hopefully it will but it's not looking good atm.

Ramsay is a good player imo.  Think he's judged much too harshly here.

Elanga I'm not sure about.  But the other two I can see why we did get them.

Woltemade was a strange one though. Looks completely wrong for Eddie's system.

Our wage budget hinders a team like us to compete, in multiple competitions, with teams who have literally 3/4x more revenue than us.

It's not an even playing field.

Aye, PSR is a doing what it’s intended to do in keeping the nouveau riche from getting on the gravy train.

But I think Eddie’s meticulous control freak approach also means we struggle if competing on more than a couple of fronts.

We’ve got a squad that can’t cope and a manager who looks like he can’t cope with that workload either.

Getting beat but being competitive is one thing, you can’t win em all.

But getting easily beat and conceding fuckloads of goals through basic tactical mistakes week after week is a sign that he’s struggling as much as the players.

Yeah, I could see the benefit in seasons like this one that we fully fuck off a few competitions that we're in. It doesn't feel good, and it goes against Howe's nature - but the alternative is just having a disappointing season on all fronts.

We got to the semi final of LC, still in the champions League and FA cup. It's not been too bad TBF.

Premier League been poor but we aren't a million miles away from a European spot.  Our away form needs looking at.

Admire the guy for giving every match, even when 5-0 down on aggregate, getting the team to play with some pride in dire circumstances.

We could have easily drawn this tie on the basis of chances not taken. It hasn't been fuckloads of tactical mistakes. It's been shit or bust. We've bust because they bring on Haaland, Cherki and Rodri for shirs and giggles and we go with strikers who were about our 6th choice at the time of purchase.

Agree this season hasn’t been as bad as some people make out. In 2021 I would have crawled over broken glass for a season like this.

But the way we’re playing isn’t Howe’s Newcastle that we know and love. We’re weak as piss at the back, weak as piss up front and completely invisible in midfield.

It’s not bad luck or narrowly losing tight games, we’re regularly conceding loads of goals in games or vital goals in critical moments of game, especially late on.

And Eddie seems to be unable to get the players to tighten up and sort this shit out. And that’s his job.

Speaks volumes of his professionalism and expectations. Remain keen to hear the alternatives from folk...

But we didn’t draw the tie. We got blown off the park 1st half because we were all over the shop.

We were 3 nowt down in 30 mins because our midfield was non existent and our defenders were like circus clowns.

That's fairer, but I do expect Howe to fix all this if the backroom staff don't continue to shaft him and he's given time and backing as has been the case before.
