It isn’t just based on arbitrary league position, it’s that combined with that we are an absolute dream to play against, easy to score against, have been largely dreadful away from home for almost 12 months, been questionable at best in the transfer market in incomings and outgoings and are crap to watch.

5th one season and a trophy in another, yet still sacked for below par league performance. Makes you think etc.* A spell under that lunatic at Forest can’t be read too much into imo.

*safety being obtuse asterisk

Well fine, if you think he should be sacked for all those reasons then that makes more sense. If we are done as any sort of force under this manager then we should look to replace him.

But finishing in the bottom 6 as I said being my personal tether would be inexcusable.

Not to pick on Haydn's point specifically, but is interesting the narrative has snowballed from "a couple of our signings might not work out" to "it was a disastrous transfer market" to "we're crap in the transfer market".

Up until this summer our incoming business was very highly thought of. Plus, it was pretty widely accepted last summer was poorly executed due to Howe, Howe and Nickson being put in a position that they're unlikely to be put in again going forward.

I just think as football fans it's very easy to get stuck in the short term thinking of it all. That's not touching on the merits of individual signings either.

I thought that as well as the current performances and football that’s being served up would’ve spoke for itself, like. A finish between 15th-17th this season on top of that is close to what the ‘definitely absolutely shite’ Ange managed last season and was sacked for, just sans the silverware. (unless you include last season’s cup, which would be fair but in that case it’s the same)

I don’t actually think we will fwiw and he’ll deservedly get another summer but I’ll not be convinced long term tbph as there’s nowt to suggest we’ll not be in a similar position having similar discussions in 2027-28 after another European qualification in 2026-27.

It’s the year chase and signing of Elanga, the outlay and subsequent management of Woltemade and lack of proactive outgoings more than attacking our general business.

This is what i've been saying , no other manager would or could do what eddie has done he needs a deeper squad. He can't keep on "improving" players from the ashley era or relie on youth this is why psr was brought in by........

Eddie Howe would win the league with the Liverpool squad. The arsenal squad, the Man City squad and probably the Man U and Chelsea squads.

Eddie is suffering by being competitive. I’d take that all season compared to the shite dished up during the Ashley era (and accepted by the Ashley apologists, probably the same folk who are now calling for Eddies sacking)

Yup,if the bed wetters get what they want, one of the "Top 6" would take eddie on and give him a squad

You put primacy on the league position. All of the other things you've talked about aren't going to be particularly different/disappear whether we finish 8th/9th or 14th/15th. We can't unsign Elanga and we're not going to be suddenly very slick on the road. We'll pick up the odd result here and there at least, and the other teams in this cluster are all fairly inconsistent.

The success of the club is limited to how competent the owners are. It doesn’t really matter who the manager is in the long run.

im a broke record on this topic so I’ll stop

The success of Man City and Chelsea wasn't down to how competent they were, they were just allowed to throw enough money at it until they won everything.

Yeah, and there's also an argument to be made that the 'failure' of the summer is a collective jumping of the gun when you look at the time it's taken for some of our signings to reach the levels they did.

Competent enough to evade footballing laws and remain successful. Building legal and illegal networks to ensure success.

Our owners spend hundreds of millions on players our rivals no longer want.

23/24 we lacked depth but we had quality. Which is why we bounced back the next season.

This year - we lack quality.

It does give hope that a quality GK & CF in the summer might give us a second push, like. As a starting point that's been the difference between us being bottom half this season and challenging top 6.

Chelsea and Man City were bought in an environment that meant they could afford to throw unlimited funds at the playing squad until they got it right.

One thing that both owners did though was ensure there was always a presence at the club. At Chelsea, Buck was an ever present, while Tenenbaum acted as the Stavely-esque conduit between club and owner. Later when Abramovic became more hands off Granovsaia became an enormous presence at the club.

Similarly City have had Al Mubarak, Pearce and Edelman in the set up from the off.

Since Stavely left, we still haven't really stumbled on formula that ensures PIF are a constant and engaged presence within the club or appointed a present individual that they're willing to delegate those big decisions too.

Yasir as a non-exec chair, simply isn't around enough to influence day-to-day.

He was having to field questions about the Man Utd job about 2 months ago and has also been linked to Chelsea. Also England quite often.

Not being a dick at all, you were trying to be one though, someone made a statement and I asked a question based on that statement, nothing more.
