Not saying Eddie hasn't made mistakes but I'm convinced the sheer number of games/injuries/Isak saga really fucked us this season. Full backing from me. We need to buy well and early in summer.

Fucking wild comments and stinking of someone who has never been in this kind of role before.

You back your manager until you don't. You don't half back him and pile more pressure on with "we'll see". He's manager of this football club and he deserves full backing until he's no longer Newcastle manager.

Hopkinson seems fucking clueless like. Least he's got staff working from the office though. That'll make all the difference.

He'll be judged on what he delivers. His soundbites are just bland corporate speak.

I have to say I really don't like this Hopkinson guy, screams of a MBA data twat rather than someone who actually understands football heritage. Then again he's a Canadian, who's been tasked to grow a club in the North East and to compete so I'm not surprised I just hear LinkedIn buzzwords every single interview he does.

These comments have really upset the cult of Eddie Howe F.C.

Nothing that has been said is unreasonable.

Aren't you missing the point a bit? I think the actual thought is reasonable it's just better left unsaid for reasons such as what this thread will become

Him and Rosenior would bound well together.

Agree. He does come across as a bit crass, but people from that part of the world tend to overstate everything. He might be really bad at his job, but then again, he might be really good.

I think it's more than likely Howe stays and is given another season to turn things around, but I don't mind a little nudge from those upstairs to keep him on his toes.

Needs to be aware that his job isn't safe come what may, large parts of this season have been abysmal, mitigating factors or not.

We don't really have a body of work to assess him against yer, at the moment its all just hot air.

We’re 12th in the table. We’ve lost more games than we’ve won. Only six teams have conceded more goals, and we’ve dropped 22 points from winning positions.

We’ve also lost twice to Sunderland.

The same mistakes keep happening again and again, with little to no sign of improvement or learning.

And yet people are surprised the CEO is taking a cautious, non-committal stance on the manager?

Which is fine and reasonable but let's keep it in house. Nothing to be gained from blurting out the indifference to the manager

Yes, that's the point - anything else undermines him.

It doesn't matter whether you think what he's said is reasonable, you don't say these things publicly, allow your quotes to be the story and create additional pressure on the club, yourself, the manager, and the players in a situation where everyone outside the club and particularly in the media will be looking for a thread to pull at.

It's incredibly basic.

If what he’s said to Howe is the same as what he’s saying publicly and Howe is ok with what they talked about then I don’t have a major issue with all this even though I’m as Howe In as you can get.

Howe doesn’t like bullshitters and he has high expectations of himself too.

Hopefully we have a great end to the season, we have a top transfer window, Howe wins us the league next season and someone snaps Arteta’s legs and arms off

Doesn't matter if you're Alex Ferguson, Steve Bruce or Eddie Howe. If your team is regressing and making the same mistakes on a consistent basis, you're going to be scrutinised from inside and outside the club.

A big end to the season and this goes away. Balls in the court of the players and Howe to deliver.

Agree. Hopkinson really needs to produce results over the next 12 months otherwise you would have to question the competency of the board itself.

The funny thing here is if he came out and backed him everyone would be ''oh the dreaded backing of the manager from the board'' but now its OMG i cant believe hes sitting on the fence. I see two sides could have said nothing or he could have came out and said what he said not slating anyone but saying hes overally happy especially losing to sunderland. People get carried away and its mainly because of the media in the country will always try to use certain words to change the narrative...listenign to talksports oh the the geordies should be grateful, careful what you wish for blah blah. Im sorry but the season is gone to shit are we supposed to sit there and say well done eddie.  I love Eddie but hes not immune from critiscm and he has rightly got some in the last couple of weeks.

Might seem a silly question but what kind of results are you expecting from him?

We maybe would, but they'd still be much less bad than what we did get.
