It's unfair to make massive changes and then judge those coming in against one of the top teams in the league. They'll get benched again.

But he’s equally been heavily backed. Whilst a a 5-7th finish would represent consolidation and a solid return on investment; finishing outside of a European space would be us going backwards, potentially quite detrimentally, with the calibre of players we’ve got at our disposal (do we retain an ambitious Bruno or Isak for example). nufc123
Dont want him gone or anything but we are not at the we go again, we will learn stage anymore. Got some serious issues he needs to fix on top of the fatigue.

I'd place more responsibility on Ashworth but even then I don't know how true that would be as the owners are quite hands on. Agreed I guess it's difficult to predict what next season looks like but if he's picking Burn when Livramento is on the bench then that's on him And when it comes to Miggy he needs to be making it clear to the club he needs a RW and that Miggy can be sold

SUPERTOON
Every area I thought we really needed to strengthen in the summer didn’t get done, that’s the main issue for me currently. Going forward I think this will be addressed.

Newcastle Fan
He deserves to see out the season and start next season, however a loss to Sunderland will make a lot of people turn on him, he is doing more wrong than right at the moment. They are 4 points clear in the Bundesliga and a top seed in the CL 2nd round. He’s one of the few managers I would trade Howe for. But I reckon he is Real bound at the end of the season with Carlo going to Brazil. He could possibly come here but certainly not this season. He would be my pick if they did move on. 100 percent. Not advocating it, just in that instance. Prob get one shot at him when he leaves Leverkusen

catlover24
He deserves until the end of the season, then the owners can decide. We can afford a season like Chelsea’s last one I reckon. (Of course we can have a shortlist but don’t undermine Howe by contacting them too early.)

We ended up with a good LB in Livermento if Barnes hadn't got injured he'd have been able to play Gordon at RW and Tonali would have been good In the centre. Probably didn't have enough left with ffp for a CB?

It may be that the ownership don’t view it as successful on their own terms, and their expectation is for what they consider success, not us. We are ( despite this season ) ahead of schedule . They will have a long term plan and so far Howe has us further ahead than they thought we'd be . If , however , this season is repeated next season , then yes he will be under pressure . For where we want to be, I think we should have really upgraded the areas I mentioned with top quality in that position. We didn’t and are suffering now as a result imo.
