Well, I know through a few good sources, as in direct from players or

those that are close to them, friends or family members. That top level footballers (our players included) do in fact get pissed up during the season.

I’m not saying I agree with it or that it is ideal from an optimal performance standpoint. But the season goes August to May, then assuming no international tournament. Back in for pre-season in like late June?

To quote Sir Bobby “They can’t be monks, we don’t want them to be monks, we want them to be football players. Because a monk doesn’t play football at this level.”

If that's true, I stand corrected. Actually I'm struggling to find any info on that, other than certain players like Kane and Haaland saying that they never drink during a season. I knew that players get drunk off season, that's not uncommon. But during a season is news for me. Maybe they just usually keep a low profile.

Maybe some do, some don't. I'd put money on the majority do to at least some extent.

I think it’s ridiculous for a lot of to sit around and judge these “old” lads for having a drink.

They’ve committed their entire life to being a professional footballer. I can’t imagine the sacrifices that is when all your mates are out boozing and jealous about you at the same time.

Now these kids are expected to be holier than though because that’s what it requires to make it to the big time.

Whilst we are in the stands shouting at them to close them down after we’ve had 4 pints.

Tripps has been a hero for us, if he wants to get pissed, go for it.

Should look up what James Harden would do the night before a game.

We should get back to having cigarettes in the wardrobe at halftime.

It's arguably worse to do it the older you get. It affects your body much worse. How many older players came out and praised Wenger for improving and prolonging their careers by getting them to stop drinking and eat more healthy?

Maybe I've missed some recent posts, but I haven't seen any holier than thou stuff. Just people correctly recognising that it isn't good nor professional for an elite athlete to get pisssed in general whether it's Trippier or anyone else.
