The Prophet
He walks straight back into the team. Lascalles has let no one down, but Botman is next level on and off the ball.

TRC
Find it absolutely baffling people are saying he needs to earn his spot back. He's one of the best CBs in the world, Jamal has done great but lets not ride our luck.
80
I think he'll have to earn his way back in. Think it would be a bad message to yank our club captain straight back out, goes against the standards Lascelles and others have set about being patient and taking opportunities. With the fixture list we've got coming up though, there's no doubt he'll get games through rotation if not suspensions sooner rather than later. I'm sure he'll be a mainstay again pretty quickly. Guest
Aye, he walks straight back in as goalkeeper for me.
OverThere
Hopefully we will rotate more to reduce the likelihood of him getting knackered again.
RobsonsWonderland
I would keep him back until the Christmas period/early new year games. We need him more for those games
NUFC_Chris
Knowing how Howe works, I don’t think he’ll bring Botman straight back into the starting 11 either. Whether or not he should is a different matter. Edited December 5, 2023 by NUFC_Chris
TBG
Easiest solution would to be bring in Botman alongside Lascelles and move Schar into midfield. Edited December 5, 2023 by TBG

Checko
Although Howe likes to stick with the same back 4, I reckon there might be a bit of rotation, manage players' workloads, not overwork Botman straight back from injury, while also giving him enough opportunity to put in some good performances and get his starting job back without flat out just dropping lascelles. Conjo
Every player that has been introduced to our regular defence - Lascelles, Livramento, Krafth, Dummett, Hall - all of them has done well. I don't buy the preference to stick with a settled back 4 any longer, and I doubt Howe does as well. Things change. Fringe and up & coming players has proved themselves - now we just need to rely on Howe to manage game time to avoid another injury nightmare like the one we've been through. Scoot
Great news. As soon as he's ready to start a game, he starts for me. Lascelles has done brilliant but this lad is on a completely different level.

Geordie Ahmed
Have we actually had confirmation of what his injury was? I hope the decision not to proceed with surgery doesn't backfire (assuming that was an option)

We might need him back in the team full time a couple of weeks later...

Keep him ready and fit for when Schar/Lascelles inevitably get injured sometime around Christmas.
