Kimbo Posted Tuesday at 15:24 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:24 It’s pretty surprising that the usual geniuses in the media are going to bat for Bruce again. What has happened to both Bruce and Newcastle since he left has proved us right, and we have ex-players validating our opinions on him,… but still they insist on trying to make the case for him. They should’ve just kept their heads down and ignored all this.

It's after he's had them for a year or two that the wheels really fall off.
Decky Posted Tuesday at 16:10 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:10 Found a PDF of his books and the first page of 'Striker!' was enough for me to stop reading. Absolute drivel.

gbandit Posted Tuesday at 17:07 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:07 Wonder if Steve Barnes ran any training sessions. Probably some clues in the book about the real deal. Is he trying to tell everyone that he’s murdered someone?

Is he trying to tell everyone that he’s murdered someone? Reckon its a bit like the concept in Basic Instict. Describing training in his books on the face of it implies he'd deploy it in real life but is also actually an alibi for his career

Pilko Posted Tuesday at 19:44 Share Posted Tuesday at 19:44 you get the impression Brucey would look for an excuse to get himself to hospital if there's free tea and biscuits going afterwards.

B-more Mag Posted Tuesday at 19:58 Share Posted Tuesday at 19:58 Could it really be that I’ve managed more than 1,000 matches? My stubby sausage fingers don’t go that high, and for a moment I thought perhaps I’d never know. But then I remembered! There’s lots of lads in the squad. Surely among us we have enough! Decky Posted Tuesday at 20:16 Share Posted Tuesday at 20:16 I could manage 1000 games easily if the extent of my work was two days a week at the training ground, drinking bovril and doing nothing, then at the weekend go to the game like any other supporter. Could easily do about 2 or 3 thousand if I have to.

Chris_R Posted Tuesday at 21:53 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:53 Actually thinking back hadn't he actually admitted molesting a child to Byrne, and they still kept playing him? Wasn't even just an accusation.
TheBrownBottle Posted Tuesday at 21:58 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:58 As a former proud owner of the Steve Barnes trilogy, I'd say I'd recommend them. Problem is, they go for a bastard fortune on ebay these days, which is a shame, and also means I regret the fact that I lent them out to my mates a couple of decades ago and have no idea where they ended up. I'd have been rich if I'd kept them.
