Sunderland player: "Thanks for all your support, it's really appreciated but... can you stop singing that racist song about me? Thanks very much"

Sunderland fans: "LOL no, we'll sing it more! And if you take the knee we'll shout at you"

Absolute bottom-feeding pieces of shit.

That's just so fucking sad. As much as I laugh at their misfortune I do actually respect they've always had a strong working class socialist tradition among supporters, those left from that must be so fucking depressed that now it's just traded on that that used to be the case and this shit goes on. They will sing racist songs they want and also take moral high ground  against the mags lololol

Even from an objective point of view, don't want these anywhere near the PL. Chucking coins, racial abuse, booing the knee, etc. They're an absolutely rancid fanbase.

I'm ambivalent tbh. I don't want them getting promoted, but on the other hand I think they've been romanticised too much by that Netflix documentary. If they come up, at least there'll be some light shone on their UKIP racism which led the way to Brexit, and as a bonus we'll get to thrash them to make up for the Pardew years.

I reckon they play The Iain Duncan Smiths’ ‘Three Lions ‘21’ before England games and sing along unironically

Pmsl at the ticket washed marra's attendance tracker thread? So 37,012 squeezed into a 35,000 lower dust bowl :bluestar:yet no mention on  Racist To Go , of how the fuck is that possible ,especially with it being live on sky sports ,don't think anyone would of noticed the huge swathe of empty seats or heard you racially abusing your best player, what a truly pitiful sight they provided Racist hicks v hooligans.

I think their attendances are calculated by the Qataris

900 away fans there yesterday so that means the usable capacity yesterday was around 37,000 and it looked 70% full at best on tv. Problem they've got is that if they don't pretend that they're getting 35k+ every week then the one thing that makes them special in their eyes (their crowds) isn't actually there and in reality they are just on a par with Middlesbrough, Sheff Utd, Norwich etc.

The attendance figures are based upon issued tickets - but the club’s accounts tell the true story.  They’re made available every year - a summary glance at their revenue from ticket sales compared to the rest of the division they’re in tells it’s own sorry tale.

The below is from the excellent Swiss Ramble - it’s gate receipts from their last season in the old second division.  Those massive ‘attendances’ don’t seem to make a dent …

Last time the mackems blighted the premier league, over the 19 home games they had 168,777 empty seats( I think that's when they went a dirty pink colour )finishing  top of the premier league for the most sunwashed unfilled seats . there none stop obsession with Newcastle is frankly embarrassing but any association gives them their 15 minutes of fame, probably best for all concerned if they fucked off back to div 3 where 17-22k is massive.

It's plainly obvious when you see their games either live or through highlights that they're not getting anywhere near 'their' official attendance. The fact they have weekly match day attendance threads wanking themselves silly is embarrassing. Are they that thick to not see that the crowds are nowhere near those that are published. When I saw the official attendance was over 37,000, I was just laughing. They obviously need to come up with a better plan for the non attending free tickets. The accounts as suggested above have always shown this is the case.

Bristol City and Hull average around 15k each and make more in ticket sales than Sunderland do!

I wouldn’t imagine you have to keep a (true) record of where the free tickets ended up so they’ll continue to have the highest ‘attendances’ in the Championship, unless a club with a bigger capacity came along.

Sad Mackem Bastards.Again it fits perfectly. The gift that keeps giving.

A lot of their problem is as a club and fanbase they're insecure so inflate the attendances with made up figures or at best cheap tickets.

The revenue from the inflated attendances doesn't exist except in the fans minds and gives them the idea they should be competing with clubs who actually get those gates and charge more money. Thus pressure on managers and owners when they don't compete on the field with teams they don't compete with off it. Thus adding to the insecurity.

All just to avoid reality.
