Mackem north east geography goes as follows;

- If you were not born in NE1 and reside there or the less affluent areas of the west end (so they can point fun at them) then you are not a Geordie. See their claims as an example that Sam Fender is not a Geordie as he is from North Shields.

- Any Newcastle fans living in parts of County Durham or Tyne & Wear equidistant between the two rivers are plastics who never go to games. They switched allegiances in 1992 or 2021 as Kevin Keegan or MbS went around door knocking handing out free Sky dishes or dodgy boxes whilst declaring the North Sea was retreating so it was okay to support Newcastle.

- The bridges over the Tyne: all of them are in Gateshead. None of them are in Newcastle.

I feel like there’s a few more that I’ve missed but can’t remember them off the top of my head.

The Honey Monster gets a lot of stick as well for that Sugar Puffs advert , they reckon he managed to persuade a lot to switch allegiances.

They love them threads!

Absolutely ludicrous when they say things like "70/30" etc - have they spoke to everyone who lives there to find out who they support?!

Whoppers!

Even funnier when they talk about 'Strongholds'

Like some mackem is fortified at the bottom of 'Sir Tommy Robinson St' decked in chain mail unable to make any advancement.

The overwhelming assumption that "all mags are plastic" and they are diehards who go to all games is fascinating considering the attendances at games tell a completely different story.

Durham Mags are evil.

Mackems who live elsewhere are absolutely fine.

Its a mental illness imo.

There have always been a lot of Newcastle supporters throughout County Durham in general, and North West Durham (Derwent Valley, Consett, Stanley) is predominantly black and white and always has been.

They have had a chairman who publicly stated that he wished Sunderland fans were as loyal as Newcastle fans and another chairman who pleaded with them not to watch their matches in the pub and attend the game instead.

Yes, Consett to Sunderland is double the distance than Consett to Newcastle.
