That's why the fans have a complex about getting rid of there manager every year before the run in. It’s a holdover from when they used to play us so now they always feel like they have to appoint a new manager to win their big games.

Individuals can still be good players whilst not in a team performing well. Says more about spurs then him

They love a good lie over there Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have had 10x more 'good times' than them in recent years and bigger catchment areas. I have to admit to not watching much of Sunderland, sometimes part of the games they have televised if nothing else to do, but what I have seen of them leaves me unconvinced they are anything remotely resembling a serious promotion team. Take away their impressive start, when they seemed to catch the opposition cold, and they have looked nothing other than an average mid table championship team since, and often not even that. They never win convincingly, if at all recently. They lack any stand out individuals (despite the hype and claims of "generational talents") and often look cumbersome and awkward in possession. Felt like a lot of the games they won early in the season they used up a lot of luck doing so. You could say they've been equally unlucky in their defeats, but not so sure. They are a young team which has been played into the ground. The manager has had no real choice but to ease off (not bscked in jan) just depends whether the row of defeats has climbed inside and knocked their confidence. Fans as usual haven't helped, kicking off about the tail off. Same fans who booed off their teams 1st home defeat sometime in November (or near that). Not sure the fans have the stomach or bottle for the playoffs. Theyll point fingers and nash their teeth at the players if thry don't win, but that lack of support, energy, nerves and entitlement will seep into the players and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Just takes one moment though. If thry get it things quickly change. Very interesting to see how they handle it.

Recently it hasn't been that much of a lottery. In the last 14 seasons 3rd has won 6, 4th has won 5 and 5th has won 3. Blackpool were the last team to finish 6th and win it in 2011.
