They are giving it a real go. Have to say I'm impressed with their business. They clearly have a plan.

Yeah, me too.  They had to roll the dice to have a chance, and they’re going exactly that.  Could blow up in their face, but it isn’t great for the game doing what Burnley do - come up, take the money, go back down

They had no choice, they'd have broken Derby's record otherwise. Still a lot of luck required in the sense that they need one of the established clubs, possibly two to drop like a stone, but they've given themselves a chance.

Signing a lot of young players with potential sell on value. They’ll hit lucky with a couple and seem to have a very good recruitment set up in place.

I’m not sure we can genuinely say we are shopping in a different market on this one after signing fucking Ramsdale.

Other than Xhaka, Ramsdale has had a career vastly, vastly superior to anyone they’ve signed.

Pretty hard to have a stellar career when everyone we bring in is about 15.

On a serious note, We have brought in two players with experience. Renildo & Xhaka, who both I would argue have had superior careers to Ramsdale.

Not really sure it means anything though, two clubs at polar opposite ends of the market they shop in.

That being said, I would have been wounded if we brought Ramsdale in. Personally think he’s shite and the seagulls would have distracted him.

Personally think Xhaka is a fantastic signing for them. Don’t think it’s an over-the-hill signing. The issue for Sunderland is more about their squad, the inexperience, the AFCON and the jump in quality from the championship for those that remain from the promotion season. Can’t see a scenario where they stay up but I’d prefer them to stay up over some of the alsoran losers in the PL that are on their knees for the cartel

Been a regular in England squads, played every game for a team that finished second in the PL three seasons ago, but he’s “shite”.

He'd have fit right in.

Xhaka is a good signing. The rest is up for debate.

Fair play for having a go though.

He’s no better than Pope, Has been relegated three times and openly spoke about not being able to concentrate for the length of a game.

Amazed your spinning his signing as a positive to be honest, but each to their own.

Of course proof is in the pudding. We need to see how it goes.

Reinaldo isn't great and Adringa is coming off a poor season.

Don't know loads about the rest. Diarra looked tidy v England then can't say I know enough about the Belgian and Swiss leagues to comment on the other lads.

Perhaps dont throw so much litter on the pitch and you wont have so many seagulls.... or is the rubbish there to seduce them?

In fairness, Howe has more success in the market than pretty much any other manager, barring maybe Emery. Whether that’s down to identification, his coaching or a combination who knows but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t a success

Was he the reason for those relegations? And are you saying signing relegated players is bad business?

Presumably you wouldnt have taken Delap? Or Dibling? Not that any of them would be remotely interested in playing for Sunderland.

No one is solely responsible for a relegation.

I think you are forgetting the position you are in though. A CL club with a pretty outstanding first 11 and your getting a keeper that is no better than what you have.

Definitely giving it a good go, but you do yourself no favours regarding the allegations of when you show up on here, do you Teddy?

Apologies I’m not glued to the board. You must be forgetting I started posting on here when we were in League One to offer some balance.

I'm no Ramsdale fan, but "been relegated with 3 clubs" is a daft point to make.

He also got to 2nd with Arsenal and was in the TOTY only a couple of years ago.

Howe 'got Bournemouth relegated',

Klopp 'got Mainz relegated'

Moyes 'got Sunderland relegated' 🤭

Pope was relegated with Burnley

Daft point to make.

Hes better than Dubravka. When you are achieving a decent standard, it becomes more and more difficult to find quality that makes the difference. Arsenal signed Kepa, as an example.

Goalkeepers like Allison and Ederson dont grow on trees and you are lucky if you get one.

Weve had to accept lesser quality, fine but hes still a good keeper and still better than your keeper.
