Maybe [emoji38]. The woosh is supposed to be aimed at any Sunderland fans in your life.

I think they would take the piss out of you something rotten if you mentioned that version of the song. I think you need to look at the Elvis Presley version first before you mention the 'A' team

Ah... yeah... I mean... that's the joke.

To put your mind at ease, I know it's Elvis [emoji38]. I just make out like the fanbase has latched on to this version of the song.

You know, now that I've explained it, it's even funnier. Thanks!

I'm not sure when their fans started appropriating 'Can't help falling in love', nor do I care to check, but one thing that brings me joy is asking a fan why they're so attached to an early 2000s track by the A-Teens:

It's even better when you can sell it as the original version of the song [emoji38]

The song was written by a Wearside shipbuilder before he travelled round Spain forming clubs in Bilbao, Madrid and Seville.

If you look closely, he's actually one of the lads in the music video.

I have it on good authority that the caterers for the video shoot were instructed to only provide blue pop and cheesy chips

Hearts vs. Sunderland on Saturday.

Around 2-3k Mackems coming up to Edinburgh, apparently.

We've played Newcastle in pre-season games in the past, including John Robertson's testimonial in 1992, but the only Sunderland visit I recall was in 1989.

Hearts 1-0 in the torrential Edinburgh rain and the Mackems were in the uncovered, completely open to the elements, Gorgie Road terracing. 😃

Eric Gates got dogs abuse everytime he came anywhere near "the shed" at the opposite end.

No idea why.

As always, best wishes to Newcastle United for 2025/26.

After the way this shit show of a summer has gone, it's nailed on that these cunts will be above us in the league after the first two games of the season. RTG will be combusting with joy.

I'll save you the bother. it'll be dozens of jobless fuckwits chimping themselves silly over Isak missing the tour, making shit up and believing it as stone cold fact, then slapping themselves on the back for being the bestest fans the world has ever seen.

Probably not mentioning that they're still favourites for the drop, will never in their lifetime see Champions League football, and that their town is still a tramp-ridden tip.

I was one of the agnostics when it came to their promotion but I’ve been at the cricket with a mackem and his absolute delight about Isak was genuinely tragic. I told him that this is how top level football operates- good players leave good teams- and that he wouldn’t get it. It really has me kicking myself about how gracious I have been during the last couple of years. They are pathetic cunts. In a drunken moment of weakness he told me that us winning the cup was a genuinely dark moment for him. This is both sad and deeply, deeply satisfying.
