As much as it absolutely kills me to write, they fully deserved the win. They were better, more aggressive and much more up for the game than we were.

They started rattled but they simply were resilient. They proceeded about their gameplan after we've spent all our energy, mentally and physically in the first half.

Like Bruno?

He didn’t play today. Also one player? We are a CL team they are newly promoted. That’s not good enough

I think they knew they just had to stick to the game plan. Play through our midfield and chances will come. They didn't have to be brilliant, just solid.

We are also a dross footballing team though. Only good as underdogs

Yep. We're only good if we're up against a team that underestimates us. This is what happens when you assemble a team of athletes whose identity is intensity but have no idea what to do if the opposition are also physically imposing

Trying to think of something positive to take from today and there is one, minor, positive I think:

Being beaten by SAFC is a shameful humiliation for us. An absolute embarrassment. A terrible indignity. Degrading in fact.

Meanwhile SAFC fans will be as happy today as when we won the League Cup exactly a year ago.

So the day we see beating SAFC as being like winning silverwear, or when we start behaving rationally when we get beat off them is when we need to start worrying.

The horrific reaction to this defeat shows where the two clubs are at right now - beyond the disappointments of this season.

Yeah agree with that, this is likely as good as it ever gets for them hopefully.  It’s fairly likely they finish above us now but that’s not going to bother me as much as losing today.

I don't know if it's just a case of me being a biased gravy stained jawdee but I think the 2nd half was more a case of us shiteing the nest and parting like the red sea for them than them running rings around us. We shrunk into a quivering mess and they smelt blood.

But I'm not taking anything away from them, they done their job well and fully deserved the win

I wouldn’t agree with that like, but guess it doesn’t matter.

They were better than us though, no question. You could see their confidence grow the sloppier we got. They were never flustered at any point. It should have been a nightmare for them at SJP. Ended the game like the home team.

Hmm, yeah they were more dangerous and we looked very shaky. But I don’t think they played us off the park. As I said though, fairly pointless discussion since we lost.

The 2nd half was a shit show from the very first whistle. Ramsey aimlessly booting our kick off out for a goal kick to a backdrop of empty seats as people seemed to take forever to return after their HT pint set the tone. Still loads not back in their seats on 50 mins. The next 10/15 mins was pretty much played out in our half. We gave them a way back into the game and they went for it. Turned to my mate 5 mins before they equalised and said what was going to happen. Was so bloody obvious.

Mackems weren't good. They didn't need to be. They had a gameplan of still being in the game at HT and then simply making the most of the opportunities that we would give them.

They certainly didn't play us off the park, I'm not sure a team who's only tactic seems to be a long throw could do that to anyone.

They were however definitely the better side second half, we bottled it, they smelled blood as someone said and the crowd started sensing the inevitability of what was going to happen.

Strip away the fact that it's derby and all the emotions that go with it and yesterday was a movie we've seen way too many times this season. Opponents coming to SJP know that we're going to come at them like a pack of hyenas from kick off but if they can weather the storm for the first 30 mins or so, we won't be able to sustain it and gaps will start appearing all over the pitch, then in the 2nd half we seldom have game changing quality coming off the bench to give us the impetus again. Teams know that they just need to stay within touching distance of us by half time and we'll inevitably create chances for them.

We're ridiculously easy to play against.

Aye that's pretty much it. Yesterday was just another case of rinse and repeat of an all too familiar story. Absolutely horrible game to watch when you're just sat there waiting for the inevitable. I actually left the Junction and went for my bus on 85 minutes so that I wouldn't see the winner that I knew was coming.

They really have the smallest of small time mentalities.
Wonder if they realise that it's evidence of their acceptance that we are the bigger and better club.

If the first two were draws would that not mean we'd have been the "champions" for those two games? Thick cunts

Don't let logic get in the way of stupidity.
