Kid Icarus
On 26/05/2025 at 22:01, 54 said: I hope you plan on doing a season average like last year Back by extreme demand 10: Fabian Schär: 6.08 9. Harvey Barnes: 6.20 8. Joelinton - 6.27 7. Jacob Murphy - 6.33 6. Tino Livramento - 6.39 6. Nick Pope - 6.40 5. Bruno Guimaraes - 6.58 4. Alexander Isak - 6.61 3. Lewis Hall - 6.73 2. Sandro Tonali - 6.82 1: Dan Burn - 6.98 Methodology: Score based on average score. Players with less that 18 appearances were automatically excluded, a change from 25 last year due to playing fewer games and me rating fewer matches. Players with less than 35 games played had a 0.2 reduction, less than 30 another 0.2 reduction. In a way there's some deductive reasoning going on here, but without it it just wouldn't have looked 'right' ie Hall at number 1. It benefits players like Pope and Bruno a bit who tend to play a lot/get consistent ratings vs players like Murphy and Livramento who played fewer games and had more up and down ratings. My actual chosen top 10: 10: Fabian Schär - Not a vintage season for Schar. He has a few ups and more downs, but he was still generally dependable and chipped in with some goals. 9. Joelinton - Similar to Schar in that he was a bit up and down, but Joelinton's ups were very up, including a 10/10 cup final performance. 8. Bruno Guimaraes - Maybe slightly harsh because he had a good season, but he was generally more a dependable 6 or 7 performer than a player who had highs and lows. 7. Tino Livramento - A very good season after a shaky start. Came in and deputised for Lewis Hall brilliantly, forming a nice partnership with Harvey Barnes. Another 10/10 performer in the cup final. 6. Harvey Barnes - A bit of an up and down season, with a few games where he was really poor. However, his impact was also undeniable. He stole us points early in the season when we didn't deserve it and then was electric later in the season, including in the cup final. 5. Jacob Murphy - Brilliant season from Murphy, the real surprise package. He did have a few poor performances like most others but also had a very direct and precise partnership with Isak that seemed telepathic at times. Throw in a few class goals and put it all in the context of us having been crying out for a RW for a few years and he's had a great season. 4. Lewis Hall - Unlucky to be this low due to injury. Started shakily but once he was through that spell never looked back and was consistently our star performer until he picked up his injury. 3. Alexander Isak - Similar to Barnes in that he had a bit of an up and down season but was undeniable, except with Isak it was at the absolute top level and included outstanding build up play. If this ranking was purely about levels reached, Isak would be number 1. 2. Sandro Tonali - The key on-field catalyst for our upturn this season. Fantastic on the ball, intelligent off it, aggressive, direct, and a ridiculous engine. A brilliant footballer. If this ranking was purely about impact, Tonali would be number 1. 1: Dan Burn - I wouldn't ever really choose a defender for player of the season, especially one where we won a cup and qualified for the Champions League, but I find it impossible to deny Burn of the title. Not only was he consistent, similar to the likes of Bruno or Pope, but he was also very often playing at a very high level, like Isak and Tonali. Throw in legendary performances that dragged us through matches and moments that will be remembered forever and it's a very easy decision to make. Previous winners: 23/24 10. Jacob Murphy 9. Lewis Miley 8. Jamaal Lascelles 7: Dan Burn 6: Tino Livramento 5: Kieran Trippier 4: Fabian Schar 3: Alexander Isak 2: Bruno Guimaraes 1: Anthony Gordon 22/23 10. Allan Saint-Maximin 9. Joe Willock 8. Callum Wilson 7. Fabian Schär 6. Bruno Guimarães 5. Kieran Trippier 4. Alexander Isak 3. Miguel Almirón 2. Nick Pope 1. Joelinton Edited 23 hours ago by Kid Icarus
Coffee_Johnny
@Kid Icarus interesting to see especially comparison with previous seasons. You’re quite a tough scorer though, winner averaging less than 7. Bet you don’t give many 10/10 and wonder what distribution looks like, not many performances below 4 or above 7 would be my guess. It's hard to do average ratings over a full season because invariably we have a player who got high ratings but didn't play enough to justify being player of the season. This year without the appearance buff Hall would have won, last season Lascelles would have, and ASM would have won in 22/23, so it's tricky to get the balance. Ratings are quite often influenced by the result and we've had a strange season despite being successful. Everyone's been a bit up and down with only really Pope, Bruno, and Burn being anywhere near consistent throughout. And even then there are a few poor scores in the mix for all three as well. For Burn to still average just under 7 when we had a lot of poor all-round performances earlier in the season is pretty good. Last season Burn's score would have only got him 3rd place and in 22/23 it would have been 8th which is weird considering we achieved much more this season. Iwantcurlyhair2
I went over last night. I enjoyed it but failed dismally. It works through an app and you only have 10 seconds to answer with points on correct answer and speed. £5 entry per team and 26 teams last night. 3 20 question rounds and £330 split between the 3 rounds. Had a great night but I've got an old head and I'm not fast enough against the other teams. Finished 14th, 18th and 16th but had a great night. The 3 rounds were all the same format so in fact it is like 3 separate 20 question quizzes in one night. With plenty of time we should all get 15-20 correct but the 10 second time limit causes chaos. There are several question types Name the player off a photo. The questions are read out and also the photo comes on your phone. You then have to select the first letter of the player's christian name. One question I can remember was a photo of Trevor Chalabah. I knew it was Chalabah straight away but by the time I realised he was a Trevor and found the T icon on my phone the time was up Name the club off the crest. Again first letter of the club Guess the year Name a goal scorer Total number of goals in a game As I said before an entertaining night but you're up against students who are much quicker than me with far better memories. I'll definitely go again with my wife and enjoy taking part but can't see me ever having my name up in lights! Matthew Raisbeck was a quality quizmaster and he didn't belittle or embarrass anyone.
