FLUMPO235
Came here after talksport stirring the pot just now. Trying to think neutrally which is the best job. I still think it’s us based on ownership, ambition and potential. I still think manure are a hell of a pull and one of if not the biggest club in the world. But with the glazers it’s just not got the potential. if it was Man City or Real Madrid I would be worried. But whoever we lose now, we know our top team will go out of their way to find the replacement. Not search the sports direct/casino staff list. The Prophet
From the article: "Newcastle would be expected to pull out all the stops to keep Ashworth and sources close to the former FA technical director say he is happy in his current role. However, it would be interesting to see if he could be tempted by the chance to help transform the most successful club in the Premier League era." Sounds like he wants it to be true, more then he thinks it is

Having said that, there's nothing of any substance in the article.

RobsonsWonderland
Not sure Ashworth would fit Man U's philosophy. They are not going to do a Brighton and bring in raw gems to develop and sell etc. They are shopping at the other end of the market and buying high end names. I mean it's failed so far but Radcliffe is not going to come in and buy cheap either

duo
I hate the way Man U think they can just get whoever they want. Ashworth is in the best project in the world, he will also be on a longtime contract. It's not going to happen.

You’re talking about England’s biggest club and arguably the biggest on earth. If they really want him I suspect there is a chance they get him, just as he came here from Brighton. Menace
We will surpass Man Utd imo. I don't see the Man U job being as attractive as people think it is, look how they turn on their managers/board every year, Ashworth won't get that hassle here - probably a non story anyway. Depends what motivates him. If it's stature then yes, Man Utd is going to appeal in the same way that coming here from Brighton would. If what attracted him to us was a blank canvas to work with he probably isn't going to get that at Man Utd. We'll find out soon enough because he is bound to be one of their top targets. It’s still Man Utd - the biggest club in the country for at least seven decades now, probably more. We aren’t likely to become the country’s biggest club - so we won’t surpass them in that regard. I didn’t say they are, but the argument exists. In terms of supporters etc. They were England’s biggest club when Liverpool were the most successful. If trophies are what defines how big a club is, then we’re about the 40th biggest club in England in the last half century

Yep Man U articles drive the most clicks. This Ratcliffe takeover has seemingly felt static for weeks, they are just speculating to fill the void until something concrete happens there. I mean if you were looking around the league at DoFs you would be mad not to look at Dan, doesn’t mean he’d want to or consider leaving.
