Maybe we've just told Isak he can go next summer. Agree new deal with some clear buyout clauses depending on potential buyers.

Go big this summer, then keep that card up our sleeve to ease things next year with the next PSR deadline.

Not how I'd want to do it but could see the regrettable logic.

I don't even want to contemplate this, although I think your right.

Wow this is gonna get expensive like if it happens….

This I’m 100% behind though. Obviously different positions but I’m all for this, while the opposite for Elanga for the prices mentioned.

At least with Pedro there’s genuine quality there and a massive ceiling potentially as well. He has a lot in his locker. Would be a fantastic signing. I can see him going up a level or two quite quickly. As well as making us less vulnerable when Isak gets injured or rested. Versatility is key here.

Can see us playing Tonali and Bruno in a double pivot with Pedro in front of them. Love the idea of Bruno and Tonali threading progressive quick passes through the centre to him without Isak having to come too deep.

Newcastle fans: Sign some players damn you.

*Newcastle start to make some moves*

Newcastle fans: Woah there, you aren't planning on selling someone are you?

Can you cunts not enjoy anything at all.  Perhaps we are, you know, trying to improve the squad for next season.

I like Pedro but I don’t really get the transfer. It’s a ton of money for a backup for Isak. Don’t anyone realistically put forward playing two up front either because isn’t a thing.

Won’t be here as a back-up to Isak. That is an option he offers (which we badly need) but also can play as a wide forward and behind a centre forward. Gives us flexibility tactically and depth in personnel. Has demonstrated consistently he can score and create in the premier league. To my mind it’s a pretty safe buy.

I think it's years of Ashley's ownership leaving scars tbh. But you're right.

The only thing with it is I genuinely think we basically did exactly this with Bruno and nobody bit, which led to the Gordon to Liverpool idea and ultimately the Anderson/Minteh escapade. It all worked out in the end but if clubs know you're relying on that sale then it reduces your bargaining power. The key is to have multiple potential sale options lined up.

£60m for Pedro is preferable to £50m for Elanga imo. Can play a number of roles.

I think it'll be both as opposed to one or the other.

Pedro doesn't solve or issue on the right hand side by any means.

Yep, it just gives us several options.

Pedro can play wide if we need him, can come in for Isak when he needs a rest, without it making us much worse, and as you say it provides a potential new dynamic to our midfield.. especially for those games against the poorer sides that we struggle to put to bed.

Just from a box ticking point of view it makes sense.

Big

Good pace

Versatile

Young

Plenty of experience

Plenty of potential

He's also Brazilian and we know how good our Brazil boys will be in bringing him into the fold.

I agree. I think it will be both.

With Gordon leaving to free up more money.

Agree.

I'd be more than happy for us to go cheaper on a RW if we can get JP through the door.

It used to really bother me years ago when other fans would say that Newcastle fans are never happy and are always complaining.

These days, I totally see where they were/are coming from and take back everything I said sticking up for us.

The fucking whingiest bunch of fans on the planet some of our lot!

Yep agree. As well as the technical ability and awareness of space when with the ball. Goes without saying this really, just wanted to add it anyway.

He’s pretty good in the air as well. Will never forget that late goal he scored against us when we played Watford. Absolutely gutted

Would love this signing if it happens. Stick him out as the right-sided forward and he’s interchanging with Isak, drifting in, etc. If we need to play a with a withdrawn striker you have him supporting Isak or playing next to him. If you need him to cover wide left he’s doing that job too if needed. Tons of versatility with it and believe we aren’t even close to seeing the finished article with him. He’s got the dribbling, heading, open play, movement, pace, can create, can score a pen. Sign him up.
