Can’t agree wages or get transfers over the line, almost all transfer targets have joined other clubs, submitting bids much lower than asking prices, and players generally not wanting to come to us. Pre season or not I was there last weekend and it was shocking, don’t even think Isak being there would have made much of a difference. If he wants to leave and explore let home go, bring in new faces, this will be down to whoever is available now and we are dealing with what’s left. How much effect has Amanda leaving had on the whole structure now, somethings aren’t working anymore and it’s frightening. Its not even just the practical effect its had, its really like there's been a cloud over the House Of Newcastle since she was banished. Thats an amazon doc worth watching, the behind the scenes bitching and arguing and backstabbing

Even with all the challenges that exist. We need to stop pissing about and actually start acting like a top club. Make a prompt decision on Isak and own it - either lay down the law to him and have him stay, or get a bloody excellent deal when you sell him. Non-English club only. Alex, you don't get to call the shots here. Then sign the best players we can. There ARE options available to improve on a now non-existent Longstaff and Wilson (i.e. anyone with legs) for example. It's a weak, small club mentality to constantly bemoan how hard things are and barely sign anyone. I just don't accept that what we've done so far is the best we can do. If what we're doing isn't working, then change approach. It is fundamentally that simple imo. I have said similar, there's an impression from many we need to be looking at elite players bla bla, not doing your Brighton/Bournemouth/Forest approach of risk reward. A bit like we did with Hall/Livramento, 30m and 40m each on two young lads perhaps was a risk, but a very rewarding one, similarly with Murillo at Forest, unfortunate for Bournemouth with Huijsen and Kerkez, both turned out spectacular and have moved on, but with good fees, they still have Zabranyi mind and room to invest. I just thought we'd still do one elite signing, and go for a growth potential signings, some to keep and some to continue to strengthen our psr position. There's plenty out there to be had, example Antonio Nusa almost ended up at Brentford, before joining Leipzig for €21m

Problem is we are saying we don’t want to sell, when the message should be “we aren’t selling”. Since we aren’t negotiating a new contract then it seems we are in fact selling if our valuation is met. The only questions that remain are…what is our valuation and can we get a replacement in before the window shuts. Unless an absurd bid in the £200m range is mounted then we shouldn’t be selling. That is the message in the press; if it wasn’t the case he should have the decency to deny it. It’s pure fucking rat behaviour. If he had made his feelings clear when last season ended, I'd have no issues with him whatsoever. To leave it this late though, when the best alternatives have already been snapped up, it's just not cool. Who's to say we couldn't have signed Pedro or Hugo if it was clear that Isak was going. Saying that, I'd have no problem with him wearing the Newcastle jersey for another year. I just can't see him completely spitting the dummy if he doesn't get his move. He'll surely still want to work hard for the team and score goals. He wouldn't want to come across as a bad egg, that would put some clubs off buying him next season. We simply have to keep him for this coming season at least as at this point in the window, he's irreplaceable. On top of that, if we sell him now, any player we try to sign will come with an 'Isak tax' on top of the 'near end of window tax'. It would make his fee significantly less when you take that into account. All we can do now as supporters, is to wait and see what happens. If we do force him to stay, the fans have to get behind him. The vitriol can wait until he dons another teams jersey next season. No ones excusing his behaviour or actions, but some are just a little empathetic with them. He's a £150m player - pay him £150m player wages. I'm not gonna excuse his actions but conversely I don't think punishing him to that extent is reasonable either - it's undermines everything Howe's built with the team. The guy will still be friends with alot of the players and the staff etc. The blame lies firmly with the club and Mitchell in particular, they're thr ones who need to be held to account. Smal
it’s possible that Isak has “left it so late” because he’s been waiting to see what we could do in the transfer market and well…we’ve fucked it up in the most spectacular fashion.

It seems that we're locked into this 'elite/first 11 improvements only' approach, for whatever reason. If that really isn't working, you need to have other cards up your sleeve. OverThere
It would be interesting to hear what his gripes are. Winning things, well we already did and that limits his move to half a dozen teams around Europe, or money...or a bit of both.
LaurentRobert
Online Liverpool fans come across as the most insufferable entitled twats out there. None of them probably live anywhere near Liverpool in reality, but it makes using Twitter, Instagram etc unbearable. They have this idea that we should just bend over and accept £100m and not a penny more, as if it's their god-given right to poach our best players, completely dismissing the fact we've just beaten them in a cup final and are a champions league outfit. Fuck Liverpool, Fuck Sky, Fuck Football YouTube Wafflers stealing a living, Fuck Talkshite, Fuck Transfer Gurus, Fuck the lot of them

We were always losing him but I was optimistic we'd get a chance to match his ambition, especially since Sociedad wasn't doing any of this shit. Newcastle is a superior location from a neutral perspective. Ok I'm not neutral, but if I was that would be my opinion. But if he can double his money and increase his chances of winning a truckload of trophies, then you can't really blame him for wanting that. But he signed a contract and if he plays ball, we can maybe let him leave next season.
Mike
Yeah, I'm not mad at him for wanting to go to a club better situated to match his ambitions, I'm mad at him for doing it in one of the worst possible ways and with one of the most unlikable clubs. I'm mad at your media for facilitating it for engagement. I'm mad at the club for not having their shit together to build on the fucking gem we uncovered. I'm mad in a lot of directions. I wouldn't sell him, fuck him for derailing the window (despite us being so shit at it in general). But I don't know if the club see this the way we see it, as a capitulation that we'll almost certainly repeat with Tonali.
BlueStar
If he goes to Liverpool as our record outgoing transfer fee and then struggles to find form and/or spends a lot of time on the treatment table, it won't be long before comparisons to Carrol start being made.
