He hasn't even come out to confirm or deny the quotes that he wants to leave.

So it will be incredibly easy for them to PR this with a straight bat if he stays.

"Alex had an injury as we announced and unfortunately couldn't join the preseason tour. But he's been working hard back at the training ground to recover quickly and is hopeful of being fit for the start of the season. Alex is aware of the speculation around him but just wants to focus on his football."

There. easy as that.

Easy to say, but who is going to believe it?

Good post… but I’m just struggling to think of any situation where a player has downed tools, then stayed at his club, and everything to have been fine afterwards. It might make us look strong to the football world, but does it actually help the team? I dunno 🤷‍♂️

Kane says hie, stevie G, rooney, benteke, Lewis dunk also say hie. They all had amazing seasons after.

so do you believe him or not

I already think we'll sell him to Liverpool so whether I believe him specifically is by the by. The reason I'm posting about ignis mainly because he said this would happen a few weeks ago when the idea of it was fanciful.

Aye exactly. I have the opposite opinion.

Make him stay a year and demand the same money those clubs thought they could sign him for this year.

Also next summer, there will be more than Liverpool. Offer him to PSG with minus 10% for good will.

Out of interest?

A) Liverpool now for 140m

B) PSG (or someone else abroad) next year for 120

Selling abroad would be a massive win for us.

Option B please Bob.

I wasn’t asking you but as you’ve answered We probably won’t get Sesko so your big plan is sell our best player to a rival and then significantly weaken ourself by signing a stop game. Isak scored 60% of our goals last season. You are basically suggesting we sack off next season ‘until we get our shit together’

also doesn’t send a great message to rest of squad - just go on strike and we’ll sell you no problem

The 60% thing is a bit misleading, he was our main striker and played a very high % of minutes so of course his goals will make up a the majority of what we scored.

Someone like Wissa will get 10-15 in our team, we need an alternative who will pick up 5-10 to make up the goals.

It's the link up areas where we're going to struggle to replace Isak, not the goals

I’d sell him to any club in world football except Liverpool.

It’s also not true, is it? Is it not more like 40% in the league? Less across all comps, at a guess.

I did look the other day. But I can’t remember. Guessing on that league figure. But we scored 68 goals I think. Isak did not score 40 league goals

What will happen? Doubt anyone outside of Newcastle would even bat an eye. Just business as normal.

For me the most important thing is having a top-level replacement first, we really need 2 strikers ready to sign before he can go. Sesko and Wissa would do the job.

I don't want to sell him into the PL but it seems like Liverpool is the only interested party. So either he stays or he goes there.

FWIW I think we could rehabilitate him if he stays but you'd still need Wissa in because it might take the first month or 2 of the season to get him ready.

I don't get why people think Isak can't rejoin the team. Howe's a brilliant manager, and we've got great leaders like Burn, Trippier, Bruno, and Schar. After reading Trippier's thoughts, I don't see why it's an issue. Anyone saying we should just give in to Liverpool is wrong and a total downer.

Liverpool wouldn't sell Suarez to Arsenal, and they didn't sell Coutinho when he asked to leave, but they sold him later for a ton of money. Brighton did the same with Caicedo. We should do the same with Isak until we get a crazy offer, yeah? Rebuff all bids unless our 150m is met.

Tonali, Livramento will be gone next summer if we dont play this right. We will become a feeder club. We absolutely should not accept Liverpool shafting us.

23 across 19 games, I'd say 6 of them were not game influencing (the 5th Vs Palace etc).

Impact Infront of goal is definitely replaceable, not sure on the other aspects of play unless others step up (again)

I think it would me madness to let Isak go this summer, we need to keep him here for another season.

We have missed out on all our first targets and now Sesko seems to be the only viable alternative. And Sesko will almost certainly end up at Man U, once PIF have given them some money for their cast offs. We also have to replace Calum Wilson.

We are relying on unqualified and inexperienced people to carry out the negotiations which carries a huge risk.

And if, god forbid, they allow Isak to go before we have signed two players then PIF really are incompetent. It is highly possible we won’t be able to get decent replacements and clubs will hike their prices knowing we are both cash rich and desperate.

I don't think a lot of people are willing to capitulate to Liverpool.

They should only get him if they pay fair value.

Just don't think we're in a strong position anymore, it's getting too late in this current window and he'll definitely want to leave in this window.

We're not really in a position to drive the price up at this stage.

I think even if it was 120m it wouldn't go much past that.

Thinking we can demand 150m at this stage is daft.
