He will be canny for them and makes much more sense. Theyve been waiting a year to get him already.

The talk of Isak to arsenal is fanciful they wouldn't pay his clause to Sociedad so they won't be paying us his clause plus 100m

Said it before but I can imagine Liverpool will be the ones that bid if any in the summer. I think they stored up some decent PSR room, probably sack off Nunez.

That being said if they win the league and other cups + if Salah stays, they may think they don't need to splash out and keep doing what they are doing buying cheaper across Europe.

Nah it's gonna be Chelsea that come calling again isn't it. It's always Chelsea.

I'm choosing not to listen to all the Arsenal bullshit anyways and just enjoying watching a phenomenal talent play in a Newcastle shirt.

Only English club that can make this happen is city. And they've lumped for Marmoush.

In the short term PSG are most the most likely imo. But let's see how the contract goes it will be very difficult because his agents if competent will need a release clause which makes no sense for us at this juncture.

Whatever any of our strikers in the past have done, Isak could have done as well or better. That’s not meant to disrespect any of them. If you replace any of our previous forwards with Isak, our record either stays the same or

improves imo.

He is the best.

Regardless of which striker they buy, unless they are an instant hit they will for the next 3-4 years always be compared to Isak and who "Arsenal should have bought"

A lot of worry for nothing on here. There's no way he's leaving for anyone in the PL. Only way he leaves is if someone like Perez or Bayern taps him up and he leaves with one year left on his contract or on a free in summer 2028.

Liverpool are not lumping £100m+ on any player.

No disrespect to wor Alan but Isak is genuinely better.

Isak will outscore him if he plays the same amount of games for us as Shearer did.

In the Premier League alone, if he played the same 303 games for us as Shearer did, then he is on course to score 193 goals for us, compared to Shearers 148.

From those who saw enough to comment, as I can only go off auld highlights; is he a better finisher than Cole or nah? Cole's scoring rate for us is an absolute joke, like. Took him 50 games to score 50 goals.  Suppose that answers itself.

He’s comfortably a better finisher than Cole, who played in a five-man attack entirely designed around providing him with maximum service at a time when English football was the worst it’s been relative to other European leagues in its history.  That Keegan team was great fun to watch, but honestly the standard of English football wasn’t great, and the defences were even worse.  Cole really did need a lot of chances, but the lad knew where the net was tbf.

Shearer was a much, much better finisher than Cole in fairness - as a clinical finisher, I still think Shearer might be better than Isak.  But Isak is unquestionably a better player for me.

Take it as a compliment.[emoji38] We're not Palace. Oh wow, we have a player who would be good enough for the allmighty Arsenal? Incredible!

Fuck do you expect from him, another one on Ashley’s bacon sarnie list. Was very quick to talk about the need for change as soon as the takeover happened. Twat.

Disagree. As an all round player, maybe but as a striker, no. The proof will be in the pudding if he can better Shearers record pro-rata and over a sustained period of time. Until he does that I won't believe it. Shearer had career threatening injuries and still scored 49% of the time when he returned.

Arsenal can't afford him. If he leaves it'll be Barca, Real or PSG for 175M

PSG is said to have changed strategy away from those kind of deals.

Shearer's best days started at Blackburn and he was outrageous for half a decade.

Shearer scored 51% of the time over 559 league games (18 years).

That is an absolutely phenomenal record. Especially when he was only in one trophy winning side and had the injuries he had.

The Arsenal thing from Sky/everyone is so odd. What’s it all based on?!

Was it not just them enquiring in the summer and being told to fuck off and them needing a striker. Has there been anything concrete since?

Seems like Sky are playing the role of an Arsenal fanzine and just pushing some weird narrative of Arsenal wanting him and supposedly they will get him in the summer. Despite nothing actually being reported regarding bids, solid interest etc.

It’s absolutely mental and has been brought about by PSR making the January transfer window a bit pointless. They just want something to talk about.

Cunts.

I absolutely love Isak, always have really. I’m Swedish and have followed him through his career, really liked him when he broke through and I’ve always thought he’s special. He really is.

BUT for me it’s still too early to compare him with our record goal scorer who played for us for almost 20 years. Alex has been here for two minutes in comparison. For me it’s quite obvious and means no disrespect to the man.

Without his injuries I don't think there would be talk of Haaland getting anywhere near him tbh, there would be no debate between him and Henry either. It's a shame, although he adapted brilliantly still.

Shearer is my hero, I watched all his games. Shearer is definitely a better finisher - if given space, and he has better strength and determination re scoring goals. If you want a classical striker, then probably Shearer would be a more prolific choice.

But Isak is more than that. I don’t want to bring it up again (fuck the gunners) but Isak is exactly the type of modern striker like Henry. He can destroy opponent on his own, even if the other players couldn’t create chances for him. He can do that himself. He can beat opponents one on one and score with both foot, or he can pick up Gordon/Murphy in critical area. He has too much arsenals in his pocket, it’s close to ridiculous.

Higuain at his prime has ridiculous goal scoring rate. Yet we all know Benzema is the better striker (and why CR7 scored so much).

Isak still needs time and stats to proof, let’s hope he would be free from injuries and able to extend his prime years till early 30s.
