Why can't others on here see this logic. We are there or thereabouts.

I also think the fact that we are not as big in stature is also a reason why we reject any approach. For where we want to be, we can’t keep selling our best players to clubs who we are aiming to compete against. Alongside that, it will be damaging to our sponsorship/commercial deals.

People think we can sell him for £150m because he costs us £70m, we need to make a significant profit to replace him, and also need to set a barometer above what £100m players are these days.

No, £100m bought Arsenal a defensive midfielder from West Ham a few years ago, £100m bought Grealish from Aston Villa 5 years ago who is now surplus to requirements. £150m doesn’t get you possibly the best forward in Europe behind Mbappe.

The wheels were coming off Slot's team last year.

Before then.

Liverpool fans on social media saying they will win Isak for the onesies they are offering because he’ll force a move.

This is a club who a year ago were rejected by one of the best midfielders who played for them in the modern era to become their manager, instead opting to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, and a few weeks ago lost one of their own young prospects who grew up as a Liverpool fan to go to Real Madrid after refusing to sign a new contract.

Salah stayed because they offered him a stupid wage that only the Saudi’s would stop, and I still think he’ll end up in Saudi, and no one actually wants VVD as he’s injury prone, and as soon as he leaves Liverpool will receive a red card every other game.

Actually we can. We then have 12 months to sort our shit out and make sure we are compliant

I love Isak but it can’t be healty having one player at 400k a week and the next one at about 100k.

Secretly hope Yasir takes this personally and gets more involved as a result. Imagine trying to negotiate with the fucker after you've gone out of your way to try and strongarm him and his club, almost to the point of disrespecting him. Doesn't strike me as someone you'd want to make an enemy of

Completely agree with this. If they did approach it aggressively I would imagine it would make us far less likely to be willing to deal with them even next year. If we did manage to get him to sign a new deal and it must have a release clause, I’d be much happier for it to be foreign clubs only, or anyone but Liverpool.

Not to be a negative bastard but I do wonder if he will agitate for a move now. I think there's a fairly high chance this has perhaps came from his agent, but obviously could be Liverpool flexing.

Signing for the current champions and one of the world's largest clubs will be an attractive proposition for any player, regardless of how class the last few years have been since he joined.

I don't think we will sell (now) btw, I just wonder if his head has or will be turned.

I don't think there is a single player in the dressing who would bat an eye if Isak was making an extreme amount more, he's one of the best strikers in europe and we value him for more than the current british record and any fee involving him results in a top 10 to maybe even top 5 fee in football history.

Depends on "the amount"

I think he either goes for a ridiculous bid this summer (£150m plus), or next summer after a new contract with a release clause. It shouldn’t be seen as the end of the world either. We can’t be seen as a club who never let players leave or it will have an impact on the players you can sign.

Selling players (including first team players) is normal. We clearly expected Bruno to go last summer and no doubt had plans on what to do next. My main concern now however is what we do after any sale. Our big signing have all been good since the take over, but it hardly seems settled upstairs. I’d like to think we have scenarios in place and we’re ahead of the game, but I’m not 100% confident we are.

I think him being paid the most isn't an issue, but if he was getting more than Bruno, Elanga, Botman and Gordon combined there might be a few raised eyebrows and people contacting their agents.

If he asks for a move, tell him to find any club other than Liverpool.

I honestly don’t think we’ll sell to them.

I think part of talks we’ll have is that if he has another good season, he’ll have his pick of Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, or to a lesser extent, Bayern Munich.

Think of it this way. If Michelle Collins rings up and ask if I might want to have a no jarmy sleepover at hers, that doesn’t automatically mean I’m agitating to leave my wife who I love very much, does it

Just pay him in some dodgy off the books kind of way like Man City have been doing for years. Pay him and his agent 20m each for an appearance in a couple of Noon adverts or something

Aye there is also the financial side of things for him to consider. If Liverpool were to sign him as the 3rd most expensive player in history, you can safely assume he'd be being paid well in excess of £250/300k a week. Probably as close to Salah & VVD as it could be.

If we are to keep him with an agreement he can leave in a year or two, we'd have to pay him what he considered his value. It would only be fair for him to expect that imo.

When any of them are top 3 in the world in their position they can contact their agents.

None of them are the level of Isak so don't deserve to be paid the same.

I didn't say they deserved to be paid the same. I said they will question if combined they're still paid less than him.

If it was insinuated that he’d get offered a new contract then maybe that’s the source of some dissatisfaction rather than a desire to join Liverpool. Plough the Longstaff fee into improved terms and lock him down.

If only it was that easy. Sadly if he's got his heart set on a move - zero evidence of this of course - then it will be hard to lock him down.

In the footballing food chain, Liverpool are still miles higher than us and will be for a considerable amount of time.

I still think Liverpool had no plans to try for him this summer and still might not. Just trying to seize an opportunity/not miss out on Ekitike.

Obsessed Bobby. It's never going to happen (Michelle Collins I mean). You're just going to have to forget about her. 😄
