Ben
We might be in bother when the Saudis enter the Champions league.
TK-421
Maybe we've just decided to try the Chel$ea PSR cheat codes, except instead of property or womens teams, were gonna start selling our most valuable players to ourselves??!!
HayDen Traces
Sell him to Al-Hilal over Liverpool everyday of the week 😂
Hanshithispantz
Could we realistically sell him to a Saudi team for £200m, then loan him back for £40m a year on higher wages to satisfy fair market value? Not straight away. Also there’s no chance the Saudis would do that. Would instantly devalue their league that they are trying so hard to build up also why would Isak, a serious pro agree to be part of that sham Edited July 18, 2025 by gdm

Lots of club do deals where they buy the player but he goes back to his original club on loan for a period of time. Not that this is what would happen here, it's fantasy nonsense, I just mean I don't think it's against any actual rules.
BeloEmre
There has been suspiciously little of him on the club's social media in recent days...

I'm more just interested to know if there's anything legal to stop things like this? I would assume so but it also doesn't seem like we'd be doing anything wrong. PSR is meant to be about profit and sustainability.
Pearljam10
So we will start the season without strikers.

Probably the same protocol for any player who’s the subject of a bid/enquiry. Can say the same about longstaff as well.
GallowgatePigeon
I'd rather we give him away for free to some club in that vapid arsecrack of a league than one of the cartel get their hands on him. So I'd reluctantly accept him going to that vapid arsecrack of a league for a few years if they're gonna pay top dollar.
Kooiman
I now feel confident in assuming that his agent was the one briefing the press earlier this week. He wants a new contract for his client, and dare I say he's earned it. I can't speak to the nitty gritty of the financials, but hopefully we can facilitate his requests. These types of sagas are part of being back at the top table, so they don't concern me too much. We'll win some, we'll lose some.

Do you think he wouldn’t be linked away if his contract had 5 years instead of 3 though? Or you just mean his agent wouldn’t be agitating? Or you just mean his agent wouldn’t be agitating? No, I think he'd be linked away regardless. He's one of the best forwards in Europe. When Isak signed his contract in 2022 he wasn't a sure thing. The club were rewarded for taking that risk, but since then the accolades speak for themselves. He's managed two seasons with over 20 goals, he's scored in the Champions League, and he delivered a first domestic trophy in 70-years. The ambitious nature of our project suggests he can see a future for himself here (barring an offer from Real Madrid or someone like that). I would predict the problem is that his current contract reflects where he was in 2022 not who he is in 2025. After Anthony Gordon's contract extension last year I'd guess several players being ahead of Isak in terms of salary. It's his agent's job to agitate so that he's at least making the same (if not more). I could build a case for why Liverpool wanted those press stories to circulate earlier in the week. Now they've seemingly dropped off and Al-Hilal stories have replaced them it indicates a consistent source is doing the talking.
Boey_Jarton
3 hours ago, The Prophet said: "Uefa's laws prohibit any associated party transactions, therefore meaning money generated from selling the women's team would not be included in their Financial Fair Play figures." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c9vekz4m393o Yes you are correct. Having read that article, I was sad enough to read the details of the UEFA rules and it does imply that a sale of a player deemed an associated party transaction which crystallised an accounting profit would be treated as 'zero profit' for their Financial Sustainability Regulations.
