Well if Isak was close to leaving I'd imagine we wouldn't have walked away from the Ekitike deal so quickly

Liverpool get Ekiteke then swap us for Isak + some millis.  :icon_puke_r: Sorry

Obviously you can read whatever you like into those comments but if I was the relevant person at Liverpool I'd be putting my "turn Isak's head via the media" plan into overdrive next week.

He's so distracted by the reports he can't even sit on the bench and support his teammates, even though he was already in Glasgow?

We're going to see the usual suspects Tweet/blog about this constantly for the next week and either he/we buckle and things start to properly move or he's on the plane to the Far East and Liverpool move on to Ekitike and whatever other targets they've got.

Ok. I’m clearly in the minority, but watching Eddie’s presser it seems pretty honest to me. Obviously not an ideal situation but nothing he said or implied particularly makes me worry about him leaving. I mean, he clearly says he will travel to Singapore and he’s confident he’ll be here at the end of the window.

My guess, though, is that we may need to put our money where our mouth is, not necessarily on Alex’s demands, but his agents.

You need to add context. His comments have come about because a) he was sent home and b) after a conversation with howe on his future.

mad ostrich behaviour to not acknowledge something is wrong

Yeah but that wouldn’t be the whole story would it. Add in Wissa getting sent home because his head was turned, add in Brentford manager saying they’d had a conversation and he understands career is short.

Where's it saying Isaks head is turned? Or is that just fans reading between the lines of Howes "I respect how short careers are" quote? If Isaks head has been turned I don't think Howe would have come out and said Isak is happy here and confident he'll be with us at the start of the season.

We walked away on Wednesday. The fact Isak travelled to Glasgow suggest something happened since Wednesday

He said he was sent home coz his head wasn’t right? Why would his head not be right in this situation? Then add in Howe saying they had a conversation

Howe is being very transparent here, probably more than usual which raises some eyebrows. I think its the right thing to do though. Anything other than truthful is another free shot for the press to "uncover". Its the lessar of two evils.

Press will make up what they want either way but at least our fanbase knows to trust Howe and that he is being truthful is important.

I'll only start to worry if he's not on the plane to Singapore next week. Once again, Liverpool hijacking the Ekitike deal and agreeing terms with the player does not seem to indicate that Liverpool are confident in buying Isak this window.

choose one:

1. Isak got his head turned and so held a conversation with Howe and then go back to home

2. Isak got extremely frustrated by the transfer speculation and thus Howe decided to send him home

I can’t think of other cases that can explain why Isak was sent home just before the friendly

Howe must come out and say Isak will 100% not be leaving. He must say it today before midnight.

Preferably with a binding blood sacrifice.

He want's the new contract. We seem to have no one at the club to sort that...His head is naturally turned to the extra 150k a week so he's unsure where he see's himself right now?

Typical Newcastle...the wealthiest club in the world but the only club that aren't allow to advance by spending that wealth.

They should fuck PSR off and just take he fine at this point - it's a fucking joke the whole system.

It wouldn't be just a fine though would it. It would be a points deduction too. Think before you type ffs.ha ha simpsons GIF

there is no deal agreed between Liverpool and Frankfurt.

Howe is a very clever man. Last season with the Gordon rumours he must feel he dealt with that in slightly the wrong way, and has tweeked his approach this time.

He'll never say 100% because he knows how unpredictable football can be, but him being confident, while also being one of the main men in control makes me not worry, at all!

We fly to Asia in a few days, if he doesnt travel, then we start to panic.

I've just rewatched his presser and he never said this? Unless there's another interview he said this on?

I would expect a formal offer to come from Liverpool by tomorrow night based on the comments (and how they haven’t bid for Etitike yet), and how we respond and our following actions will determine where we are ambitious our heading as a club.

According to latest reports, they are just about to bid 80 million for Ekitike.

He can't promise that though can he. On the off chance the Saudis came in and offered £300m he'd be slaughtered by the fans

I think we find ourselves in a very unusual situation, probably since Shearer, whereby we have one of the best strikers on the planet in our squad. It’s not something we’re used too, it’s new to us so we’re probably not used to dealing with it.

It’s becoming pretty clear though, and rightly so, he needs a new contract asap to reflect his status otherwise it’s going to be difficult to justify him wanting to hang around.

Have we considered that witnessing Gordon's headband in person may have tipped him over the edge?

Why would he even travel if his head wasnt right? He could have had a convo with Eddie yesterday and stayed at home.
