A player’s career is quite short and he is going into his prime years.

More than that the new stadium seems like it was all a.load of BS and also the new training ground. PIF moves at a glacial pace.

Add it to the reasons why this window should have/should represent a massive opportunity as we head towards next season. Currently, it's a mess and pretty much all signs are pointing to that. midds
I just think about the vision and future of the club and how it was going to grow and challenge in the next 5-10 years while we were trying to get him here 3 years ago. I bet we sold him such a fantastic future he couldn't wait to put pen to paper, shiny new ground in the pipeline, new training facilities, bringing in more quality players (where possible) etc. I know I'm being a bit doom and gloom and there is still time to get the squad built up before September but right now it does feel like we're staring down the barrel a bit. Clubs aren't daft, the prices are only going one way as they've seen the state of the exec team and how they've watched other clubs come in and sign players from under our noses several times - selling clubs will make it even more difficult now, no one is going to do us any favours

pinkeye
I am absolutely astonished that the 115 charges that Man City were found guilty of (what ever the heck they were) are still sitting without a conclusion. They must be pretty certain that it is going to be just fine for them considering that they are continuing as normal. I wonder why our owners don't just simply go ahead and do whatever they want, sign players at whatever they cost and provide the correct level of salary. Then when the Premier League Lawyers come knocking for all the rule breaches just keep them tied up with legal tape for as long as it takes... clearly what Man City are doing... There is no sign that the 115 charges saga is coming to any sort of conclusion any time soon.

Given the new sponsorship deals they've been announcing I'd say it's almost certain that they've either gotten away with everything completely or they know the punishment is going to be so minor as to not matter. No. It may be that they would rather spend money where they can get a quicker return as they are doing with their other sporting ventures. They can just play by the PL rules and treat NUFC as a long term investment in the meantime. If they sold up I would be worried they might buy a cartel club where they could do what they really want. Their new jersey deal is hilarious & makes no commercial sense for Puma, yet here we all are. PIF should push to the absolute limit of everything possible re sponsorship, transfers, loans and even tours to SA. The big question is why they arent. Hard to understand why they dont want to accelerate the project, given their aggression in everything they do
AyeDubbleYoo
They might think the project is going relatively well given we’ve gone from relegation worriers to CL challengers in basically no time at all.

Yeah, 3 more years is fine and a new contract, presumably with a large buy-out fee inserted, would probably benefit Isak and the club. But if I'm Isak I'm still not committing to anything until I see some signs. The club is a mess off the field and for the first time I'm questioning the competence of those running it. Under Ashley I always felt it was 'unwilling to invest rather than unable', with this lot I'm currently thinking it's the opposite and that's really disappointing

Just a reminder the PSR loss limit hasn’t changed yet the cost of doing football business is going up at a rate greater than anyone can conceivably grow revenue which is further limited by various rules and tests based on your club size and commercial history. The whole system isn’t designed for anyone to grow but ones with a head start yet most of the clubs continue to agree to not make any proper changes to the system. I’m at a loss for words.
