Sesko/other striker

Wissa

Ederson

Scalvini

Fernandes (Southampton)

Trafford.

Just need a Time Machine.

Dibling instead of Fernandes for me, but that would make it acceptable (providing he goes to someone other than Liverpool).

Think we need to be pragmatic here. Arrange a deal with the player that includes a release clause for next summer of less than his full value (maybe a clause of £100m?) Which will enable hom to negotiate a bumper pay package with whoever he goes to. Whether this is a gentlemans agreement or in the guise of a new contract with slight pay increase I don't care.

Explain to him that the club simply cannot afford to lose him this summer for a myriad of reaspns, not least that his replacement hasn't been found yet.

If he doesn't go for that then he's got 2 options to either carry on as is or to go in a strop, refuse to play etc. Which will involve outing himself as a stroppy cunt and accordingly reduce his value to any self-respecting top club and therefore his negotiating position with them.

We cant go any less than 160 release clause. He's a top 3 world striker, guaranteed in any league, can play in multiple systems. Coutinho was what, 175ish? That was years ago, the pound has far less value now. Back then Bryan Mbuemo, Elanga would have gone for 30-35 mil, 40 at most.

If he doesn't leave this summer, it's likely he'll be off next. Might be best for all concerned to sell while his value is high. Just don't see us being fast enough to get who we need. And please not the Scousers. They'll probably walk the league.

Say it’s a 10% sell on. We must owe around 45M amortisation so we can’t afford to sell for less than £150M. If he went for £120M for conversion sake then 12M sell on plus 45M amortisation is 57M, only leaves us with around 60 - 65M. Just can’t do that.

Does anyone think that we have a verbal agreement already (if if)? But that we want to make sure that we get our striker signed first? Probably not. I imagine that’s how it gonna go though.

Even selling Isak I have my doubts we could afford that

Don't worry, I'm sure Gordon will insert himself in there, maybe they'll be so good as to give us 50 mil on top of the 90 for Isak

If he goes, then fair enough. If he goes anywhere other than Liverpool then the upset from their fans won't make it worthwhile, but it will be a small piece of amusement in an otherwise dismal period.

Typical. The club have no people associated with them with the capacity for violence. Right when you need them too!

Would most sell now then? Or are we saying dig in and persuade him to stay a year.

Sell on our terms if possible. Unless of course Isak has a change of heart and his mind settles over coming weeks, then I'd be delighted to see him play for us for another year. However, it feels unlikely now with him being away and separated from his team mates for the coming week or so at least. That will only lead to furthering the feeling of departure.
