STM
It's not about having an owner who's a dickhead, its about having clear leadership at the top. Like him or not Levy is an absolutely ruthless operator. I think hes an idiot when it comes to football but he absolutely knows how to play the transfer game. We need a seasoned negotiator. This Isak debacle is the best example of why a good DoF is crucial. This would have been either snuffed out or there would have been a clear plan, had we had a remotely competent set up. The College Dropout
I’ll be honest - the Etikite transfer did smell like we were preparing to sell Isak. I was hoping it was next year rather than this. Etikite isn’t a 10 but you could see a partnership forming. As @Kid Icarus the Sesko links also smell like a replacement. With JP often playing a 10, a smaller fee - I could spin it as both. Do I expect us to sign Sesko, a CM, CB and keep Isak? I don’t.
Lazarus
Would 120m plus marmaduke be ok? Think that be just about canny.
STM
Also Isak is a fucking cunt for doing this. How hard was it for him to tell the club that he'd be interested in a move but he will carry on doing his job in the meantime? Hes effectively gone on strike, without having the balls to actually strike. The biggest cowards thing to do is feign injury during speculation. midds
I wouldn't even pick up the phone until 7pm on deadline day. See what the number is, reject it immediately and wait until it gets big enough to be impossible to turn down. 3 years is a hell of a long time when you're in the prime of your career, if Isak's got any sense he'll be urging those cunts to get it done and that needs to be an astronomical number - they want him? Fucking pay through the nose for him

The thing about having your manager in charge of transfers is that it basically guarantees that he’ll be absolutely pig-headed about it and refuse to sell for anything other than an absurd offer. We’re all having trouble of letting go of Isak. Imagine how the guy who actually writes his name on the team sheet feels. (he has to answer to the owners obviously, but playing hardball is what he’ll be advocating for)

I don’t for one minute begrudge him getting the best move he can for his career, no one would have expected him to stay until he was 30. But the way he’s done this ruins his legacy here. It’s more of an ownership thing than a DOF thing. Edu runs NFFC but it’s still Marinakis(sp?) baby and club. He’s personally pissed off about the MGW debacle and he’s ensured it’s ended where he’s happy. Levy is the Chairman of Spurs. He’s the second biggest shareholder at about 25%. All major decisions are his. We don’t have that figure. Yasir has the position but not the time or interest. I agree it’s rudderless leadership. toon25
Fucking ridiculous carry-on, this, tbh. Every day, I'm grateful we were taken over, but fuck me we absolutely must begin to define ourselves by an elite mentality that simply won't be fucked around with. This fiasco has rekindled a lot of the emotions so many of us felt before the takeover - that we're essentially here as an extra body and to be picked off by any fucker with a few quid. Thankfully we've got an elite manager who'll hold the line, but christ this has been tough to take. And as an aside, fuck that sausage head cunt Slot. Fucking prick. From what I’ve seen, Isak had already asked to leave before the window even opened and the club were already looking at the likes of João Pedro and Ekitike as potential replacements. I just don’t buy the idea that we were shifting to a 4-4-2. It feels more like that story only surfaced because his absence from the squad made the situation public.
