Well i disagree with the majority here on this.

Way too injury prone and goes missing in too many games to have that kind of valuation, regardless of how good he can be.

135m plus addons is kinda close to 150m btw.

So fuck, this isn’t just about selling him for a reasonable price, this is about strengthening rival who we want to compete with. We also need to look at the optics as well. If we want to be a big club, then if you come after one of our key players and expect to get them, then you are going to have to drop your fucking pants in order to do so.

Spurs held out for fucking years with Kane, with figures starting off at about £40m, gradually rising every season, until he got too old and they decided actually £100m is a big fucking price, let’s take it.

Spurs got the better end of that deal.

If not Isak they can find another striker who will bang in 20 goals a season for £150m.

They are more than welcome. But it’s about value to us.  Draymond Green wasn’t the most valuable basketball player in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but he was priceless to the Warriors dynasty (apart from the 2016 finals).

Ironically taking Ekitike off the market has made it even harder to get the lad they actually wanted. Now they have to offer over the odds to get him as his natural replacement isn't available. Swings and roundabouts

I'll caveat that by saying I'm assuming our transfer team actually have a backbone and will demand full market value

It’s not like they weren’t warned.

There's no basis for that figure as far as I know but £135m would be the third highest transfer fee paid in history. Hopefully we'd get more but it's a fair wedge, like. Wouldn't say we'd been bullied if he went for that but agree that you'd think we can get em higher.

Dumb as fuck fee and borderline negligent if they let him leave before getting someone else in first

Fucking rudderless ship man.

Now watch us have an impossibly good season despite all this shit 😅

Could just be how things are being reported in the media, and I hope that's the case, but feels so defeatist from the club.

Rather then

"he's not for sale, we expect him to report for training when we get back. We'll let you know when we're done with our summer business, and if you want to knock our socks off with a bid, we'll consider it if it works for us..."

Feels more like

"OK we'll let you go, but please be patient, we're trying to find a replacement. And if not you might have to stay for another year :embarrassed:"

Where is the strong stance from the club?

Except the pricks bought our main target, thus preventing us from absorbing the potential blow. That should be enough to tell them to go fuck themselves ad infinitum

£150m should have been just getting us to the table, although I insist that if I was at the club I wouldn’t even go to the table. I’d have told Liverpool to fuck, told Isak to give us 1 more season then he can go to a big club abroad for £150m, and if he didn’t play ball we’d just fucking drop him for 3 years, see which clubs are after him when he’s had 3 years sitting on a fucking beach somewhere.

Well I think we can use that money to improve the squad. I dont really see an unpopular Isak around being THAT valuable to us.

It would be valuable to make a strong statement to the cartel clubs. We are not their fucking feeder club, especially after they took our main target. It would show an utter lack of backbone, and would surely come back to haunt us.

considering that we can’t seem to get any of our targets, then frankly what’s the point in cashing in on him? We’ll be fucked up front either way.

Proven PL strikers who can guarantee you 20+ goals a season are like hens teeth and Isak also has the best years ahead of him.  He is one of the best strikers in the worlds so anything less than £150mil is a steal.  Personally I wish the club would tell Liverpool it's £200mil - put up or shut up.

Not when you consider what will happen to the prices we'll be quoted if we sell him. Inflation is a thing and the likes of Alexander Isak becoming available doesn't happen very often. Scouse cunts want him then the compensation for the hassle they've caused this summer needs to be through the roof. I'd be an absolute cunt and ask for 200 but settle at 190ish personally. Isak doesn't like it he can have a year off

And yes, I'd absolutely cut my nose off to spite my face, it's about making a stand and not being bent over. Tonali, Gordon, Livramento, Bruno and Elanga etc are all watching to see how we deal with this

Sure Liverpool will be strengthened when they are splashing out that kind of money, but there is no guarantee that it will work out and that their money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Don't really see the problem regarding optics. They are a bigger club than us atm, selling to them for a record british fee doesn't reflect poorly on us imo.

Not sure what to say about that Kane could have gone for £40m.

What’s Sociedad’s rumoured sell on clause? That’s got to be factored in as well.

Spot on - people seem to forget about that - I am sure I read it's about 20%.  We hold the cards here - fine if he wants to leave but Liverpool have to pay the premium.  I see no reason why we should do Isak any favours here.  He has behaved atrociously.  It would hopefully set a precedent for other clubs thinking of doing the same for any of our other players.  We just cannot be shown to be weak here or our players will just get picked off one by one.

Well like I said. We should never sell him until we already have the replacement in place.

I wonder how much we would be quoted if we were trying to buy Isak from one of our close rivals ???

Why are you wondering that?

Wissa deal is off. Sesko is a non starter. Been waiting for 2 weeks now for movement to happen.

Only thing new is putting a price to the name, but that’s just plucked from thin air.

I would usually agree with what @middsis saying (and that's how I want to feel), but this window is massively important as we cannot drop out of the CL places. I just want Isak gone personally, even if we just get Wissa and Watkins or some other combo to that respect with the money we're better off than we were for next season.

and even then only if Liverpool pay what he's worth and it's far far more than £135mil.  People go on about his injury record but he was fit most of last season.  And if we'd given him more service he would have been hitting the 30 goal a season bracket.  The lad is World Class - you just can replace that.
